Really sad. At work everyone thought for a second that it was terrorism - the coverage of 9/11 started much the same way.

Cory was a good pitcher when he was here in the bay area and I saw him make some great starts, particularly during the A's 20 game win streak. Though the results didn't really show it (I blame the Phillies lackadaisical players behind him and a late season injury) he pitched one of his best seasons this past year in terms of peripheral stats. Furthermore, he was something like 5'10 and it's always nice to see a 'one of the guys' type pitcher make it big.



I don't think I'd have made it in second without the K's/average 2-start/spot-starter stats he got me this past year and I looked forward to nabbing him as a 20-something pick next year. He will be missed.
