Any Questions For Greg & Tom Before Las Vegas?

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Mon Mar 23, 2015 7:35 pm

I know that we've been out of touch recently and we apologize, but it's been tough to coordinate all of these leagues, get everyone the draft spots they wanted and get the events planned in each location. We're running on adrenaline and sugar.

We'll be out of touch tomorrow because we're switching days with Colton & The Wolfman this week for our STATS Fantasy Advantage show. We're on tomorrow from 10 pm ET to midnight and Colton & The Wolfman will grab our Wednesday slot when we're flying to Las Vegas. So we'll be out of touch for most of Wednesday as well.

Anyway, I figured a thread on the boards for any questions you may have before this weekend's live drafts in Las Vegas and Online take place would be a good idea. Feel free to post any questions here and we'll answer them as quickly as we can. Thanks all and good luck. The show is about to begin!!! :D

Greg and Tom,

Thanks for all your hard work putting this together.

Would it be possible (if something like this isn't already in place) to have a small break after the 10th/20th or after the 15th round for those of us drafting online?

I ask this on behalf of my bladder.

Thanks again!

I lobbied for this last year and it got no traction.
But just before the ME draft, I informed the chat room that I will be taking the full minute during rounds 10 and 20 and I encouraged that other players to do the same so that everyone can take a bathroom/smoke/go grab a drink break.
I will do the same this year.

Fast Famous Amos at 5/2 is not likely to disappoint, but what do Greg and Tom think?

This is a great question and a great request, but hopefully you can understand our position. We don't take breaks in online drafts for two obvious reasons: 1) It's tough to make sure everyone is back from the break and ready to draft; and 2) Honestly, we just don't want to take any chances on technology having a glitch by continually stopping it online. Call me superstitious or paranoid or untrusting or anything you want, but when drafts are rolling along and working I feel more comfortable. Depending on your draft spot, if you really need to get up and grab a beer or release a beer you should have enough time to do that even without breaks, but mainly I'm choosing a smooth draft over possible problems, especially when we're watching multiple drafts at once.

That's the truth. Sorry, but no breaks in the Main Event Onlines this year.

Tomorrow night when we land at the Bellagio we are going straight to the sportsbook, grabbing two beers each at once and placing our bets on Wisconsin for Thursday Night!! In fact, we're placing our bets on all Thursday and Friday games tomorrow night. See ya down there. ;)

True story: One year we hosted the Fantasy Sports Trade Conference at the Stardust and there was a Tuesday play-in game back when they had 65 teams. Tom and I walked down to the sportsbook and made a quick bet on that game, not knowing anything about the two teams. The Stardust was the coolest place to watch March Madness games and for every $5 bet you made you received a free drink ticket. So we grabbed our first beer and started cheering for our team that we bet our hard-earned money on. But the place was packed, so we were way in the back and really couldn't see the team jerseys very well.

We started cheering the team in the white uni's and got very loud in our support. Our team was up by like 15 points at halftime when we found out we had been cheering for the wrong team during those first 20 minutes. Needless to say, we lost the bet, but we definitely didn't forget how stupid were were that night. Oh well, it was fun.

Thanks, Greg (and ikenbaseball).

Appreciate the consideration -- and I guess I'll have to bump the #1 up in my KDS.

Thanks for again hosting the best live events in the game. (My wife just asked me why don't I seem this excited when we go on other trips)

First question, Is there any way we can push back the start of the auction a couple hours Thursday night? It conflicts with my Badgers' game right now.

Second, I'm doing a couple auctions this year and using a laptop for the first time. I want to preload the Team Names as they will be called out by the auctioneer after declaring the winning bid. Do they cry out the last name of the owner, the team number or what? Thanks.
