Hope everyone is up to speed on team changes (trades, etc) or this could get dicey once FAAB finishes since players we drafted are no longer part of those franchises. We shall see

Kimbrel cannot be in a starting lineup this week as a Braves pitcher, and he must be dropped no later than NEXT Sunday. Since Maybin was not rostered, the Braves owner can add and start him this week.

Here is the rule, also posted on the league MB ...

• If a player is officially traded or released prior to any Friday @ midnight PT, he must be dropped during the first available FAAB period. He then would be eligible for his new team in the subsequent FAAB period. If a player is traded after the Friday deadline in any given week, he must be dropped by the second upcoming weekend. Likewise, once a player is officially removed from your MLB franchise he must be removed from your starting lineup for the upcoming scoring period.

I understand the rule, and I don't think there is any other way to do it; but as the San Diego Padres Pitching owner, I almost feel like I'm getting burned by the trade because I am now closer-less with SD for two weeks.

That being said, in the long run I'll take Kimbrel for 24 weeks over Benoit for 26.

Yeah trades like this one are going to make things very interesting in this league.

Think how the guy who has the Braves pitching feels. He loses the best closer in baseball for entire year.
Nobody could reasonably have seen that trade coming. Maybe at trade deadline, with Braves 20 games out of first. But not on opening day.

And the season begins.

The first team to hate this particular league is whoever has the Cardinals pitching staff.

I have Wainwright in my other league -- it's total bad luck. It's bad for the Cardinals, and it's bad for baseball in general.

I'm in pain having picked the Brewers offense at 1.13. Thought I was getting a stellar outfield (Gomez, Braun, K. Davis), a stud catcher (Lucroy) and a decent 3B (A. Ramirez). Yikes! All I've gotten is a big steaming pile of ...

well, you get the idea. At least I have Cy Young award winner Corey (0-3) Kluber anchoring my staff.

Well, at least I've won every FAAB bid so far!

Nationals hitting
Indians hitting
Rays pitching
Phillies pitching

While the last place team has
Rays hitting
Marlins hitting
Mariners pitching
Marlins pitching

This is my favorite league in the many I've done over past 20 years. Hope it returns again next year.

Note to self: avoid teams that platoon hitters a lot.

So, I dropped Aramis Ramirez last week, and it looks like I'll be dropping Ben Zobrist this week. Just my luck - my bats are the Brewers and the A's and they probably will be the two big sellers this week. Perhaps my only hope is that Giants can trade for Hamels - that would be a nice boost for my pitching.

The trade deadline certainly has a bigger impact on the Teams league than other leagues, where at least you keep the player and only their teams/stadiums change. Here, trades can be deadly. Should be interesting.

Probably not. There just isn't an easy way to police the player drops required for trades, etc.

What if you left any trades, etc, at the option of the team owner.

Example - Mets trade Matt Harvey to the Marlins in exchange for a sack of dirty uniforms and a player to be named later.

I own the Mets pitching staff in the league. Therefore I decide I'd rather not part with Harvey and I get to keep him.
This could work easily.
