Thanks to everyone who supported the NFBC Auction Championship in 2015 as we finished with a record-breaking 165 teams. That was 11 full leagues, two more than we've had in each of our past four seasons. Great job everyone.
We had full leagues in all three cities and even had four Auction Championship leagues in New York City on the Second Weekend and four Auction Championship Leagues in Las Vegas on the First Weekend. We hope to grow this format even more in 2016 and will look at more side online auction leagues. Stay tuned.
With the growth, we chose to add $6,000 to the overall prize pool. The top two spots got an additional $3,500, while we also improved 3rd through 5th place. We also added a 6th place prize considering that the number of teams in the overall grew by 30. Here's a look at the updated prize grid that you can find here: http://nfbc.stats.com/baseball/contest/ ... sp?id=1406

That looks good Greg. How do we get one of those $2500 New York Style Auction Leagues in Vegas next year? Those payouts look pretty good.

Especially since the payout percentage seems to be much better than the $1200 leagueTexas Connection wrote:..... How do we get one of those $2500 New York Style Auction Leagues in Vegas next year? Those payouts look pretty good.

It's considered a Super League so the payout % is higher. A portion of entry goes towards the overall though. The "non overall" Super's payout is $20,000 $7,500 $5,000. The missing portion for 2nd and 3rd has gone towards the overall.Navel Lint wrote:Especially since the payout percentage seems to be much better than the $1200 leagueTexas Connection wrote:..... I knew all stand-alone leagues, especially the higher dollar amounts, had their own payout structure. That's perfectly fine. I'm just a little surprised that a league that is part of an overall contest has a separate payout percentage.Red Sox Nation- wrote:It's considered a Super League so the payout % is higher. Just to be clear.
The $1200 league is being paid back 58% plus any Overall winnings.
The $2500 league is being paid back 77% plus any Overall winnings.
That's a big difference. In fact, that difference is just about equal to the "missing" money removed from the $2500 league.
I was fully aware of the payout of my league before I entered, so I have no issue with that.
I haven't played in any Slow-Drafts for the past few seasons, I know there are different price points in that contest, maybe the payout % is different there as well.

Re: 165 Teams In 2015 NFBC Auction Championship
Russ, I'm positive the exact same amount of our combined entry fee from the Super Auction is dedicated to the Overall prize pool as the $1200 entry leagues dedicate. That's all that should matter to anyone else in the Overall.
As far as the $1300 that those in the Super Auction pay in addition, that's in essence a side pool that should be paid at the Super's standard 90% +/- payout since this league also doubles as a Super.
Yes, when combining the two portions of this payout, the percentage may end up being higher than other Auction championship leagues, but it would also be much lower than any other Super league. As someone who finished 2nd in this Super league last year, and felt the bite that was taken out of 2nd place, believe me I'd almost rather it be a Super only league.
Either way, the percentages are probably what they should be due to the combination and because the percentage for the first $1200 of that prize pool is exactly what it is for every other Auction Championship league. If anything, the percentages should probably be a little higher for the Super Auction. I'm sure I can get about 14 others to agree.

You are correct. If the amount set aside for the Overall is the same, then I'm perfectly fine with the different payout structure.Glenneration X wrote:Russ, I'm positive the exact same amount of our combined entry fee from the Super Auction is dedicated to the Overall prize pool as the $1200 entry leagues dedicate. Your answer makes sense, Thanks
