Verlander = 2007 Bust?

while his year-end stats look good, check out Verlander's 2nd half stats...

IP 75

Hits 90

BB 27

K's 55

ERA 4.54

WHIP 1.56

WTF happened to him in the 2nd half? the rumors were he had a dead arm, but a 1.56 WHIP...come on!!!!!

Last year it was Howard and Sizemore. This year your list is growing. Verlander is a top talent. Of course, he hit a wall. He has never pitched that many innings before. I'm sure Petitte will be a stud again, so you can start your staff around him.

I'd say the innings count was a factor. Same thing happened with Bedard in 2004 -- no biggy.

Sorry if they scare you [/QUOTE]He doesn't scare me. I'd draft him in a minute in the right spot. As for Bedard, he needed a pitch to miss bats. He has that now in a change up. It should keep his pitch counts down.

Verlander will not be a bust; however, I do think he'll fade in 2nd half...although not as bad as Beurhle did last year

With that arm, how can anybody expect this guy to be a bust? The guy pitches 100mph......with control.

I expect a very good year, but not quite as good as last year. That wall is something many pitchers go through. It seems to me, with the kind of torque it takes to throw that hard, the swame sees some arm troubles developing in the future.
