Re: Venting misery...
So, Harper is tossed out of a game, taking the most potent bat out of the lineup, making Addison Reed's chances of scoring a save better right? So I get my jammies on, go to bed and check the scores/results before going nighty-night...

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Down to 1 outfielder on my whole roster that actually plays daily. Thanks to injuries!
Re: Venting misery...
Offensively challenged seems to be a daily line of 8 for 45 maybe a HR no steals and 2 RBI's. Some of these players seem just good enough to hold. Pitching wise seem to be leading a charmed life. In a PT league I have 55 pitching points and 12 hitting points. If it was reversed I would be enjoying this more no offense feels like death by a 1000 cuts. Would love my Bautista pick back he looks like he has my shoulder and I need a full replacement.

Re: Venting misery...
Jeff Samardzija... nothing else needs to be said... My main event team has been steadily rising. After a nice team performance on Monday my team rose to second in the league and first in ERA. I seriously considered benching Greinke due to his start in Colorado but it is a 2 start week for him and with Paxton and Morrow both on the DL and Eovaldi not knowing how to compete with mid 90's heat, my starting pitching was light. So I had to start him. Between Samardzija's disaster, Greinke predictably getting hammered and a reliever I got stuck with 16 earned runs for the night. losing 11 points in ERA and WHIP...
So painful...

Re: Venting misery...
That's not too bad. You could be like me and now lost 3 OF's in the last few weeks. AWESOME. Everytime I get 1 player healthy, I lose 3 more to injuries. It's like a bad dream.

I hear ya get a life... And if you are dealing with that in the main, you have such limited options to pick up... I have 3 SP's on DL myself but one is Jose Fernandez.. hoping he comes back fast and the team doesn't fall so far behind that they limit him the remainder of season.

LOL at latest rotoworld caption on Rusney Castillo. He better "get it together" or else he'll find AAA pretty soon.
Really? Does that writer realize that the Sox let Bradley Jr. have parts of WHOLE seasons to "get it together"? Why should Rusney only be allowed a week of at bats? I think he's played in less than 10 games so far? Wow, most players have more leash than a couple weeks. Anyone else know of a good fantasy news site?

Was nice of the Nationals to activate Anthony Rendon prior to the Friday line-up deadlines, can finally get this bum who I have everywhere into my line-up. A 4 week knee sprain turns into a 10 week knee & oblique strain. You best hit the ground hitting, Anthony!!!

The good news was a hit and CS in his first PA. A willingness to run that early shows he is comfortable attempting SB and should be more than just AVG and power.
Misery:
Waiver released Soria a week before the announcement he would replace Nathan
Waiver released Roark a week before the Fister injury
Waiver released Baez last week and now they're speculating he will get called up to play 3B with Bryant moving to OF.

Re: Venting misery...
If Pence, Phillips and Freese end up on DL (all either left games with injury or have been out for days with injury) my ENTIRE bench will be comprised of DL'ed players. The only thing that makes me forget about this is the weekly kick in the balls I get from Jeff Samardzija and his ERA and Ratio destroying outing. Still amazed by how a guy with his size, delivery and stuff could be this bad. To think I was targeting Gerrit Cole (who I have on other 2 teams) and he was snagged right before me, which lead to Samardzija pic. How things could be different....

Re: Venting misery...
Just a quick vent about Girardi. Yankees take lead over Nationals 4-2 after 7 innings. Things are all lined up for Betances and Miller to close things out. Does Girardi use Betances in the 8th inning? No. He lets Eovaldi start the inning and then goes to Lindgren. Of course, the Yankees give up two runs and the game gets tied. Does he use Betances and/or Miller in the 9th inning? No. The 10th inning? No. The 11th inning? No again. The Nationals score a run in the 11th inning and win 5-4. The Yankees lose with Betances and Miller sitting on their asses. Oh, by the way, Girardi used both of them last night in a 6-1 game (with Betances facing a lousy three batters and Miller facing one batter). Another oh by the way - the Yankees had an off day on Monday and are off tomorrow. Arrrrggghhh! (Yes, it goes with saying that I have Betances and Miller on a Main Event team, and Miller on multiple teams.)
I will grant you that the Yankees are having a stronger season than many, including myself, probably expected. That being said, I'd wager many if not most Yankees fans would agree that they are winning in spite of, not because of, Girardi.
There ... sorry, I had to vent.

Brilliant rant & observations. Girardi deserves to be blasted, and to add to your rant, especially when Eovaldi (pretty sure I saw this somewhere on the Network, too lazy to research it) tends to get hit harder the more times through a line-up. Can't wait for a MadDog Russo rant on this tomorrow.Bronx Yankees wrote:Just a quick vent about Girardi. Yankees take lead over Nationals 4-2 after 7 innings. Time for me to complain. In the KJ league with the teams, I have Pirates and Mariners hitting. Both have been disappointing to say the least, all year. Tonight: Mariners, shut out. Pirates in extra innings right now vs Phillies, haven't put a run on the board yet. UGH!

Last nights starting Line up: .191 5 R 1 HR 2 RBI
My Bench: .714 6 R 2 HR 5 RBI
As a kid, I used to ask my father's opinion and do the opposite, as he was always wrong.
I'm turning into my father.

Re: Venting misery...
Last week while fishing with my 6 year old I started messing with latest roto reports and then my faab bids. Thanks to drafting Cishek, Nathan and Cecil I was forced to throw a small bid on Jepsen in case Boxbergers triceps was a legit issue. Somehow I clicked something wrong (likely when my son let go of the pool when he hooked something) and made a typo accidental $147 bid for a player who I will likely cut this week. Really irritating to waste faab dollars with a mistake like that.
I am going to make a preventative post today to see if it helps. Samardzija has all but single handedly ruined my season. He pitches today against a very average Tampa Bay offense (though a touch pitcher in Archer). I am begging for a decent outing so I can not be miserable for the entire weekend. I figure if I type here first assuming misery is coming, maybe it wont come?

What really sucks is knowing you really are out of it this early in the year. I know, I know.......those don't give up speeches are coming and so are the play for integrity one's. You just know when you look at your team that there really is no shot in ........
that it does enough to make it. However, maybe this is a good thing. Can stop caring about baseball for the most part before the halfway point. On to football, and enjoying the summer. hey look, i'll still do enough to try to stay competitive (if that's even possible anyway). time to crawl away from these boards for a while after taking a beating by the fantasy team.
