This should make the next two FAAB periods very interesting/expensive...
A related question for Greg or Tom (or anyone else who has the answer): while the rules in section 12 are very clear with regard to the upcoming Buxton promotion, they don't seem to work the same way for the first FAAB period of the season. Examples being Odubel Herrera, who I added to a couple of my teams on April 5th, and Micah Johnson: both guys who had 0 MLB games at the time. They had made or were about to make the major league roster, so is that the determinant for availability in that first bidding period? Or are the "...any player from any MLB organization..." draft rules in effect?

Re: Buxton promoted
First week of FAAB is always full of the inconsistencies you mentioned. The rules should address this.

Re: Buxton promoted
In order for us to allow FAAB before the start of the full MLB season, we have to allow anyone to be picked up in Week 1 because MLB teams don't lock their 25-man rosters before our 7 am Sunday deadline. Some teams don't play their first game until Tuesday, so they don't need to lock in their 25-man rosters right away. It's very sporadic when those rosters are finalized and thus it would be very difficult to allow FAAB bidding on Monday of that week and constantly taking out players throughout the week like Herrera who haven't played in the majors yet. We'd be eliminating many bids without your knowledge as players are removed from the free agent pool.Chris Hahn wrote:http://m.twins.mlb.com/news/article/130 ... ron-buxton

So a guy like Herrera is allowed to be picked up in Week 1 if he wasn't already drafted, but once the 25-man rosters are known this can't happen. We either do it this way or not allow any FAAB until Week 2 when all 25-man rosters are set. It's a tradeoff we've decided to allow since so many NFBC leagues these days are being drafted earlier and earlier in the off-season.
I hope that explains our philosophy on this.
And yes, the rules clearly state that Buxton and Lindor now will be in next week's FAAB since they haven't played in the majors before today's 7 am ET deadline. Everyone will have a full week to watch their progress before bidding on them, same as the situation this week with Carlos Correa. Good luck all and enjoy these great young prospects.
