For anyone who buys the season passes for the NFL, MLB or NBA on Satellite TV, this is an interesting story in today's SportsBusiness Daily. Is this a precursor of offerings to come in baseball and football?
NBA League Pass To Offer Plans For Single Games, Specific Teams
By Eric Fisher, Staff Writer, SportsBusiness Journal
The NBA last night said it will restructure its League Pass out-of-market game package to offer purchase plans for single games and individual teams. The new offerings will be made available via online and mobile, with pricing details for the options to be disclosed next month. The changes, believed to be a first among out-of-market packages for major U.S. leagues, are expected to be a boon for fantasy players, particularly as daily fantasy for basketball has exploded in popularity.
NBA League Pass will continue to be available in its customary leaguewide package on satellite and cable TV. The NBA for the past several years has offered a five-team package within League Pass that included broadband coverage for a user-selected quintet of teams at a reduced price.
