Braves vs the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man

Post by Edwards Kings » Thu Sep 10, 2015 2:51 pm

Look about five rows back behind home plate for another fat ass (this one in a blue shirt) and you will see me as I watch the current chapter in the Braves exercise in futility.

This below is Colon making his way to the ball park to catch the early buffet...

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

you can all make fun of barto all you want but - he has a cy young Strasburg and Harvey- nope. barto is 40 and fat- but he pitches every 5th day Strasburg and Harvey- nope. funny all the talk about all those young pitchers- but where would the mets be without the fat guy? ditto for the great mark buerle in Toronto.

Maybe some day Strasburg or Harvey will get completely outpitched by Johan Santana and get their own Cy Young award, just like Bartolo.

I will say this about the game I saw (after a two and half hour rain delay, I will say I only stayed for four innings), Bart was not fooling anyone, but credit to the Mets scouting. Nearly every Braves hard hit ball had a Met barely having to move to catch it. The Braves pushed Conforto to the wall a couple of times, but Cespedes seemed to be camped out and only had to open his glove. I think Colon also deeked Miller on the AB where he got a hit/RBI. He never moved his bat when Miller grooved him a fastball, strike one. Never moved the bat when Miller grooved another fast ball, strike two. Miller grooved another an Bartolo just stuck the bat out there and made contact.
