As for the Yasiel Puig reference. Literally millions came through Ellis Island or over the Rio Grande taking the same risks.
Puig is no more thought of, at least to me, than all of those folks.

I'm saying I can't begin to relate to his background. I had a stable family life. I didn't grow up in grinding poverty. I didn't find a life changing lottery ticket that I couldn't cash until I allowed myself to become human cargo in the hands of ruthless smugglers.DOUGHBOYS wrote:Oh, I thought you were putting Puig on a pedestal.Yah Mule wrote:My comment wasn't directed to those millions of immigrants. I bet you guys are pissing off Earl Weaver. Or maybe not 'til he's had a few beers.

I also had a terrible fantasy year, so I'm blaming that, too.

Sometimes the MB's just needs a good two points of view brawl.
No name calling or swearing. Just two guys who each think they are more 'right' than the other.
I met Jim in Las Vegas last year, thoroughly enjoyed the company.
Next year, I'll have to bring up Nancy Cuban baseball players so we can see the folly of the whole discussion on our faces.
Thanks Jim, no hard feelings at all here.

I've said it before and I feel the same way now, outside of Greg and Tom, Dan is the guy I most identify with the NFBC. I've always been a fan and still am.DOUGHBOYS wrote:Sometimes the MB's just needs a good two points of view brawl.

It is part of an ongoing discussion within the Justice Department about the legality of daily fantasy sites, in which customers pay entry fees to draft virtual sports teams that compete against each other for prize money based on the real-world performances of athletes. Congress in 2006 prohibited financial companies from transferring money to online gambling sites and several were shut down. But so-called games of skill were exempted. Fantasy-sports sites have since operated under that exemption. So-called daily fantasy sites like DraftKings and FanDuel didn’t become popular until after the law was enacted.
The Justice Department is trying to determine whether daily fantasy games are a form of gambling that falls outside the purview of the exemption. No decision on the matter has been reached, these people said.
This could get ugly....

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

I just hope lawmakers continue to distinguish daily fantasy contests from season-long fantasy contests. Now that daily fantasy companies are in the cross-hairs, there is a threat of government over-reaction.

State of Nevada just ruled DFS is gambling and requires a license to operate in the state. Article up on ESPN. No mention of season long. No more daily for me. Be a shame if season long fell under this ruling.
