Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Padres will receive a package of four prospects in return for closer Craig Kimbrel.
Manuel Margot, Javier Guerra, Logan Allen and Carlos Asuaje will head to the Padres in the deal. Margot is arguably the best of the bunch, a 20-year-old outfielder who was blocked by an extremely talented and crowded outfield in Boston. Margot was ranked as the #4 prospect in the Red Sox system, while Guerra (#6) and Allen (#13) also cracked the top 15.

I smell a yard sale coming in San Diego....
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

Final stats from the Arizona Fall League that are interesting:

Gary Sanchez, C, NYY: He led the AFL in HRs (7) and RBIs (21) while hitting .295. He also showed off a strong arm and now is in line for the backup catcher's job in New York.

Mac Williamson, LF, Giants: He finished third in the AFL with a .370 average and was third in OBP (.442). He also added two homers and 14 RBIs. He might not be the answer in LF, but he's going to see some playing time there in 2016.

Yadiel Rivera, 3B, Brewers: He hit .315-1-11 with 7 SBs and the Brewers have an opening at third base. One writer called him a younger version of Aramis Ramirez. We'll see if that comes true, but he showed good plate discipline in the AFL.

Jurickson Profar, 2B, Rangers: I didn't mention him in my original post because he still can't throw yet, but he looked good at the plate and in running the bases. He had a couple of hits in the Rising Stars Game and hit .267-2-20 during the regular season with one stolen base. He's still a concern because of missing the last two years with the arm injury, but keep an eye on him because the bat is still at play.

Josh Hader, LHP, Brewers: Hader led the AFL with a 0.56 ERA as he went 2-0 in seven games with a 0.94 WHIP. He struck out 19 in 16 IP while allowing only eight hits and seven walks. He came to Milwaukee in the Carlos Gomez trade with Houston and could be a big part of this rebuilding staff.

Nick Burdi, RHP, Twins: He didn't give up a single run in 8 IP and has an electric fastball. He posted a 0.38 WHIP as he struck out 11 and gave up only two hits and one walk. He sure looks like a late-inning pitcher with closer's stuff.

Ray Black RHP, Giants: He hit 104 mph with his fastball and was consistently over 100 mph throughout the AFL season. He also struck out 16 in 9 IP while finishing with a 2.00 ERA. He has had control problems throughout the minors and he walked 6 in 9 IP, but he also gave up only five hits. He may not close soon, but he sure looks like a 7th or 8th inning setup guy who can get out of trouble with that fastball.

Scottsdale beat Surprise in the Championship Game 6-4. Here's the details of that game:

San Francisco's Christian Arroyo made the play to end the game and he is a slick fielding shortstop. Keep an eye on him next year, even if there isn't room for him at SS in San Francisco.

Here's another good overview of the 2015 AFL top players:

For those who want more information on more players from this year's AFL (and you should given that 60% of all players who play in the AFL eventually make it to the majors) - Mastersball will release a very comprehensive review sometime today (Friday) or Saturday.

Greg/Tom,

Can we get a position eligibility ruling on the following players? Thanks

Adam Rosales TEX = 1B/2B (nineteen games each)
Don Kelly MIA = 1B/3B (one game at each, no dh)
Donovan Solano MIA = 3B/SS (ten games each, although 30 games at PH BUT NL & that is not dh)
Doug Bernier MIN = 2B/3B (two games each)
Joaquin Arias SFG = 3B/SS (eight games each but 20 PH)
Matt Duffy HOU - 1B/3B (two games each but 5 PH in AL)
Dean Anna STL = (one game at PH in NL)
Elias Diaz PIT = (NL two games at PH)
Steve Lombardozzi PIT = (NL 11 games at PH)
Gary Sanchez NYY = (two AL games at PH although clearly C in ml)
Kyle Waldrop CIN = (one NL game at PH)

Obviously Greg will have to chime in with NFBC "official" positions but I have added what they should be on games played.

Personally if the player was in AL and didn't DH more than games at a position I think it should be position(s) played
NL hitters who were only PH I think default to UT in NFBC (my NL only league uses ml position(s)

It's nice that you chime in and think that some of these players should have multiple position eligibility but per the rules:

"If a player's most games played at a position is less than 20 and tied among more than one position, the NFBC commissioner will assign eligibility at one position only"

thus the question to Greg.

Just a heads up to the 2016 NFBC Arizona Fall League members: We will be starting this draft up tomorrow at 1 pm ET. I'll send an email reminder to all of you shortly, but be ready to draft. Rosters have been loaded for weeks now. Enjoy and have fun.
