Welcome To Las Vegas First Weekend

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Fri Mar 18, 2016 9:21 am

The 13th annual National Fantasy Baseball Championship kicks off in Las Vegas next week with yours truly and my brother Mike as your friendly hosts. We will be there on Thursday, March 24th and hope to hook up with a few of you for drinks that night. Then we kick off the live drafts the next day and don't stop until late on Sunday, April 3rd. Can't beat it!! :D

We have all of the details finalized for Las Vegas, so let's use this thread for both weekends and make sure that EVERYONE is prepared for the drafts and auctions out there. Here we go:

LAS VEGAS FIRST WEEKEND
Friday, March 25th
10 am PT, DaVinci Ballroom 4 - $1300 Auction Championship (13 of 15 spots sold)
4 pm PT, DaVinci Ballroom 4 - $750 Online Championship Plus (10 of 12 spots sold)

Saturday, March 26th
10 am PT, DaVinci Ballrooms 3 and 4 - Main Event
4 pm PT, $750 Online Championship Plus - LV and Online in my suite

The First Weekend events are in DaVinci Ballroom 4, which is the closest ballroom to the Spa Tower. If you are staying at the Bellagio either weekend, please request the Spa Tower. You will love the proximity of your room to the convention center. Again, I'll be around on Thursday if you want to hook up just email me at [email protected]. I may have some drinks in my suite!! If you come to the Bellagio through the lobby, go past the check-in area, past the flower room and follow the hallway until the end. You will see a gift shop on the left and DaVinci 4 is right across the hall from the gift shop. If you come to the Convention Center from the sportsbook or casino area, then walk through the Convention Center past the Business Center, past the wedding chapel and all the way to the very end. DaVinci 4 is on your left side, facing the pool.

I have a suite on Monday for the Ultimate Online and the Main Event Online if you'd like to come upstairs to do those. I'm hosting a handful of folks on Tuesday in the Spa Tower for the Super Online and will email exact room number for that one to those folks. That should be fun and we are in the big Executive Penthouse Suite for that one. Same for Wednesday when we have the Main Event Onlines. We'll get you guys set up with us upstairs and have some fun with the boardroom.

Thursday, March 31st
4 pm - NCAA Viewing Party, Spa Tower Executive Penthouse Suite
I don't have the room number for this yet, but we will meet at the base of the Spa Towers between 4 and 4:30 and we'll bring groups of people upstairs. I have one room for the party to start out, so first 40 or so folks get in. We'll have drinks for everyone, but grab something to eat before you come. We're an unsponsored party this year, so we'll have munchies and drinks. This should be a great kickoff for everyone coming to Las Vegas and getting to know other drafters. There's actually no game on, but we'll have sports on the TVs anyway and a pool table as well. Should be a blast.

5 pm PT, NFBC Main Event, Executive Penthouse Suite The Main Event is going to be in a separate suite that night. Space is filled to the max by the National Auto Dealers Association, so we'll be in a suite in the Spa Tower. We'll get creative to make this work, but I have no worries. Should be fun. Come to the party and we'll walk everyone upstairs by 4:45 or so. We will have food at 7 pm and drinks throughout.

I do have a second suite that night set aside for one more Main or a $750 Online Championship Plus. If folks want to draft that night we can still make this work. Even if we have a partial Main that night I know how we can make this work with the Online league (no phone). Thanks and contact me at [email protected] if you're interested.

6 pm PT, $1300 Auction Championship, Executive Boardroom: Again, we can walk everyone downstairs from the party, but this is the same boardroom we used last year with the 30-foot board table. This one is located in the Convention Center next to the Business Center. We will have food at 8 pm, so eat beforehand, and drinks throughout. Brady will be the auctioneer for this one. We'll start early if we can get everyone together.

Friday, April 1st
10 am - NL Auction, Executive Penthouse Suite Spa Tower:
We are giving this a home league feel by hosting this upstairs in the suite. With 12 teams, this should work perfectly. We'll have food and drink upstairs. Should be fun with Brady as the auctioneer.

10 am - $750 Online Championship Plus, Executive Penthouse Suite Spa Tower: We have a second suite for this one. This league is full already. We'll have some drinks upstairs. I'm looking forward to this one in the suite.

10 am - $1300 Auction Championship, Executive Boardroom in the Convention Center: Same as the Thursday night Auction Championship, we'll be in that big boardroom next to the Business Center. Be ready and be on time.

1 pm - $750 Online Championship Plus, Spa Tower: I'm surprised this hasn't filled already. Let's get busy and follow up the 10 am 12-team draft with one at 1 pm and 4 pm. We can draft these upstairs as long as we fill these. Drinks included. We have a $1500 Online Championship Plus on Friday at 4 pm PT that will also be held in our suite.

4 pm - $1300 Auction Championship: Grand Ballroom 7: We'll make our way to the Convention Center on Friday afternoon and for the rest of the weekend. Look for this one in Grand 7.

4 pm - AL Auction, Executive Penthouse Suite in Spa Tower: We'll keep this one upstairs since it's 12 teams and it has a home league flavor to it. Food and drink upstairs with Brady as the auctioneer again. Should be fun.

4 pm - $1300 Auction Championship, Grand Ballroom 9: We are trying to fill one more auction that day and it's in Grand Ballroom 9 if we can pull it off. We still have some work to do, but it's available if you're interested.

Saturday, April 2nd
10 am PT - Main Event in Grand Ballrooms 4, 5, 7, 8 and 9.
See you in the Convention Center. Look for the Grand Ballrooms and we'll see you there. We are starting at 10 am, so don't be late. You'll love the lunch again (my favorite) and drinks will be available. We'll honor the past champions that are there and create a new one. Thanks all.

4 pm PT - Super league in my suite if we can fill it. We need 8 more teams.
4 pm PT - OC Plus league in our suite
5 pm PT - Ultimate Auction League in Grand 7. We still have 4 spots left.
6 pm PT - Platinum League in Grand 9. Food and drink available.

Sunday, April 3rd
10 am PT - Diamond & Auction Championship: Grand Ballrooms 7 and 9:
Both are full and both will start on time.

10 am PT - $1500 OC Plus in the Spa Tower Suite

4 pm PT - Diamond Auction Grand 7: We have 13 of 15 spots filled and have interest from 2 other owners. We're close. This one will cap off our live events season with Brady as auctioneer. Best food and drinks available.

That's the schedule. We will email this link to everyone who is signed up throughout the next week and make sure everyone is on the same page. There's a lot here, but we'll get everyone together for drafts, auctions, parties and gatherings to make sure everyone has a great time. We appreciate the time, effort and expense that everyone is taking to come to Las Vegas and we're going to do our best to show you a great time. Thanks all and safe travels.

It was good to see some of our First Weekend owners in the Bellgio sportsbook tonight as we all made money on those four NCAA games!! 8-) The favorites dominated tonight, so everyone wins!!

We kick off tomorrow at 10 am with the NFBC $1300 Auction Championship. Brady Tinker is going to bed early and counting all the money he made today on college games and Deal or No Deal. The dude is the king of that game as he calls it his personal ATM machine!!

We are in DaVinci 4 at 10 am for the auction.

We are in the same room at 4 pm PT for the $750 Online Championship Plus. We will make sure we have plenty of time between contests as everyone is here live in Las Vegas for both contests.

If you have any questions, contact me at 715-254-5553 or at [email protected]. See ya in the morning.

It's hard to believe that some of our Las Vegas drafters had to deal with the snowstorms over the last two days to get here. Good luck everyone in your travels to get here this weekend.

Forecast is perfect for the First Weekend: 79 and sunny today, 71 and sunny on Saturday. Easter Sunday is 79 and sunny. Can't beat it.

Something nasty blows in on Monday but next weekend looks perfect again with sunny skies and temps from 71-79.

Safe travels all. Can't wait.

Wow, I just want to say thanks to my Las Vegas folks who drafted yesterday. We had all 15 owners for the Auction Championship League yesterday 15 minutes early and that auction with Brady was a hoot. Great, great fun.

And then we did the $750 Online Championship Plus in 2 hours and 10 minutes!! These guys just cruised through that 12-team, 30-round format. Damn that was a fun draft. Just so cool to have 12 owners who knew the players they wanted and had fun doing it. Great kickoff to the live drafts here.

Those $750 OC Plus Live leagues are a ton of fun. I sure hope we get more interest in those Second Weekend in Las Vegas because we're doing those up in the Penthouse Suites. C'mon, give them a try. Really, really cool for live drafts.

Okay, onto Saturday. Good luck all and thanks again. Great crew of guys out here First Weekend.

A final THANKS to my First Weekend drafters, facilitators and staff. What a great, great weekend in Las Vegas. Everyone was on time for every draft and auction and everything went smoothly. I think everyone has done so many online drafts beforehand that the picks almost come second natured now. So cool to see.

Folks at the Bellagio were treated to what I think was the best meal we've ever had there on Saturday!! :D We're doing that one again next Saturday during the Main Event, so many of you will see first hand what I'm talking about. Awesome meal to break up an intense day of Main Event drafting.

Again, just a great, great time. Easter limited our participation level out here, but we had two great Main Event leagues and a great group for the Auction and OC Plus leagues. I love those 12-teamers and hope we can fill up a few more on the Second Weekend out here. Those are quick, yet a lot of fun.

Thanks all and best of luck this season.
