FAAB Problems

Post by Bluecat » Sat Apr 02, 2016 12:07 pm

I was under the impression that all faab leagues will run tomorrow but currently the system won't let me submit any bids. I'm in a couple of the auction faab leagues and was actually able to place a bid earlier this morning but now the link to bid is gone. Anyone else having this problem or is it just me?

It works fine for me. Perhaps try another browser?

I tried that, even tried going on with my phone and still get the same thing. The magnifying glass and eyeball icons are there but the price tag icon that you have to click to make a bid is gone.

I just tried it again (Google Chrome) and all options work fine. I'd recommend shooting Greg an email. He's probably got his hands full at the drafts and won't see your message on the boards right away.

I'm beginning to think it's not my computer but something with the league. It's 1 of the $125 auctions Todd and Andy ran. On the "old" free agent screen, this is the message I'm getting:

"A player must be on a 25-man major-league roster or once on an NFBC team in your league to be listed as a free agent below. The player pool is deemed closed of new free agents at 7 a.m. ET on Sundays.
The next free agent deadline is December 1 at 10:00 pm ET"

December 1 at 10 pm can't be right.

I emailed Tom and they are going to work on fixing it. I think the league was loaded as a draft champions league

Correct. There were a couple of the leagues run on RT that I was told were supposed to be DCs so those are being converted to FAAB today. Hang tight and those will be changed. As will the Greg-Tom league.

Having FAAB tonight on a day that many leagues are running seems silly. The % owned function that every single player uses is not functionalble. Everyone uses it every week, but when it could do the most good, it's not there.

Makes absolutely no sense.

Yeah, I didn't understand that either. I'm not sure why that information wouldn't be readily available right now. Even if there are drafts going on, it should still be available for the leagues that are completed. All of the prospects that are no longer eligible to be picked up are still available to be bid on in FAAB as well. This stuff clearly should have been taken care of well in advance. As much "testing" as we've been told goes into this stuff prior to it being ran, it sure doesn't look like anything was done this yr. It made FAAB more time consuming for sure, especially for those of us that have always had issues with the "new" FAAB setup. I've sent my info to Greg at least twice for IT "to check out" and have never received any feedback whatsoever regarding that. Frustrating for sure.

Also, on the FAAAB page it states a deadline of 10:30 EST, it is not that time yet and I cannot bid any longer. I don't check the boards as often as I used to so I thought the time had changed. It might be a good idea to adjust that if the time is still 10:00 EST.

I just finally said screw it and posted my displeasure. Those taking the time will get an edge, I wasn't willing to search through every list. It's a little late to pull back on teams.....

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I see one minor leaguer was picked up in one of my Main leagues. No clue how that will be handled. Will it all be rolled back and could the winner of the minor leaguer potentially win another player with a contingency bid that is currently showing a winning bid for another team? No clue. Such a fustercluck. At least they got as many leagues jammed into a small window as possible though. That's what matters rather than FAAB for the leagues that have already drafted.

Joe, it doesn't make any sense to push FAAB back to April 10th because % Owned isn't listed this week. I understand that it's a very valuable tool to look for free agents, but to not run FAAB in Week 1 because of that reason wouldn't serve the best interests of hundreds and hundreds of leagues that have drafted before April 3rd.

We have never had % Owned in Week 1 because drafts are still ongoing and as you can see today it's available now that all leagues have drafted. Good luck all going forward and use it well.

This is no different than in past years. Because MLB rosters aren't all finalized at the same time we allow players in FAAB at the time to remain for bidding. If we tried to pull every player out who got sent down to the minors on Saturday night and Sunday morning we'd have thousands of FAAB bids being altered at the last minute by us. That would be a disaster for everyone. So Week 1 allows these players to be bid on.

Now that players are officially in the minors and we know every team's 25-man roster they can't be bid on until they've played 1 game in the majors. Again, no different than in past years.

Good luck all.

You should be able to make Free Agent bids in Cutline now. Shoot me an email at [email protected] if you continue to have troubles. Thanks.

I see what Kenny means. I had to hit a category to sort before I saw the place bid option. it wasn't there when I went to the (old) free agency page at first. But when I clicked on something...it was there

I would recommend that everyone use the new FAAB page (it's 2 years old now). I am not sure how long the old FAAB page will be alive and I'm not sure everything is being updated there that is added to the new one. Thanks.
