Joe Mauer

Ok, this is an odd one I came up with.

Joe Mauer, 1B
I am not sure his contract status, and I know he is the face of the franchise, but why not move this guy back to catcher. His output is horrible for a 1B. The Twins are potentially losing big numbers from another 1B. Yes he is not getting injured, but who cares. If he were a catcher, with less ab's, his productivity wouldn't be that much worse. And they would be getting production from a new 1B. Maybe the Twins fans actually go see this guy at the park and management feels that is more important than his actual production.
Any thoughts?

Mauer isn't catching any longer due to a history with concussions and the increased likelihood of a recurrence if he's behind the plate.
