Jon Stadtmueller Wins Debut NFBC Cutline Title

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Mon Sep 19, 2016 8:15 am

Congrats to Jon Stadtmueller of Little Rock, Arkansas for winning our debut NFBC Cutline Championship League title. Jon bested 1,450 teams to win the $40,000 grand prize. John finished 22.64 points ahead of Robert Sargent, who earned $20,000. All 20 of the Championship Tier teams earned prize money.

Jon's March 10th Cutline team entered the Championship Round in 9th place among the 20 finalist teams and was 57.64 points out of first place. But his Texas Connection team was 9th in Week 22 with 681 points and 4th in Week 23 with 709 points to move into contention. He won the title with a big Week 24, finishing 2nd among all teams with 809 points and a total of 2,940.84 points. That was enough to vault past everyone else for first place and the $40,000 grand prize.

Nice going Jon. That was exciting. In the final game last night, thought I might have had you with that early Sanchez HR. But you trumped us all with the 2 dingers from Hanley.

Hats off too to Tom and Matthew. A great battle down to the final day...even the final hour. You all had great teams...

Congratulations Jon!
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Congrats Jon and Robert!!!
A terrific weekend following live scoring; especially, the final game.
Jon's Hanley Ramirez with two bombs, Robert's Gary Sanchez with his rocket and unfortunately my Mookie/Xander combo did not come through for me. We all three had first place during the last day.
Looking forward to this Cutline contest next year.
Again, congratulations to you guys and all prize winners!!!

No surprise. Year after year Jon proves to be one of the best players in the NFBC no matter the format. Figures he'd do great in this one as well. Congrats Stadts, see you next year in Sin City.

He walks softly and carries a big sticdk.
He puts the d in Stats. And makes it look normal.
Anybody who has played against Jon in a league knows how good he is at our game.
When sitting next to him at a draft, don't be taken in by his smile and "Goodt Mornindg" greeting.
You'll be thinking what a nice guy!
But at the end of the season, when atop the standings, you'll be thinking, "Damn, he's goodt!"

Congradts Jon!
One of the besdt!!

Edit- Spellcheckers have no sense of humor at all.

Thanks all for the kind words. For those that didn't play this year.....I challenge you to enter just one league. It's kind of like trying to eat one potato chip. It was really addictive. Just find a 2 hour window to draft and look for a league without Robert Sargent or KJ Duke and you have a chance. I mention those 2 because if you didn't play you may have missed their astounding exploits. I believe KJ entered 30 times. Half of the teams make the post season in this contest. You know how many of his teams were in the top half? All of them. He went 30 for 30. Finally we get down to the top 20 teams that were left and I felt like any of the 20 teams could have won it. You just never know which player will have a good week or a bad one. I believe every owner had only one team in the final 20 except for Robert Sargent. Robert had 5 teams there. Wow! I click on some of his teams to see who some of his guys are. What? He has Gary Sanchez on almost all of them. Again only 2 faabs in this thing and the last one was a long time before Gary was called up. I was just frantically trying to make the cut. He had the foresight to pick up a guy that wasn't even playing to help him way down the road. Shout outs also go to Matthew Geoffroy and Tom Zarogiannos who along with Robert all had a good chance of winning on the final day. Also a great thing about this game is the pitchers getting obliterated didn't seem to bother me as much in this game. James Shields was a lot easier to own in the cutline than in roto.

Jon
