When will Bonds break the HR record?

Post by Cooperstown » Sun Feb 18, 2007 10:35 am

How about a Bonds Pool?

What game will Bonds BREAK (not tie) the HR record?

Tie breaker, what inning?

2nd Tie breaker, what pitcher?

I'll start.

July 27th vs. San Diego, 1st inning off of Peavy.

If it's legal and Greg is willing, we could make it a little more interesting.

If not, I'll keep the entries anyway.

Hey Coop, I'll bet any amount you want (up to $5000) that Bonds doesn't break the record by July 27th of this 2007 season. Once the bet is made, injuries will not nullify the bet.

The last thing I want to do is bet my hard earned money on Bonds' ability to do anything. I really just wanted to start a baby pool, errr bonds pool so we could have something else to root for.

Curious though, does Vegas have an over/under on this?

Last game of the season...Bonds needs one more to break the record...he comes to the plate in the top of the ninth with two out and no one on...he has two boat oars tapped to his bad leg for support...media reports an unsubstantiated rumor that Bond has unsuccessfully tried to bribe the Dodgers to let the bat boy pitch...fans are throwing hypos, lotions, bobble-head dolls and other Bond memorabilia on the field...Bonds gets hold of a 3-2 cripple pitch that Broxton let slip because he was distracted by the former Laker cheerleader in the seats behind home plate whom Bonds had paid to flash her most notable assets at the right time...the ball is lofted into the pueter grey skies of Chavez Ravine...Pierre slips as he fades back...he recovers...he is on the track...at the wall...he jumps...it is a(n)

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

....home run (sigh). That was no cheerleader that was Britney in a wig. If Pierre wasn't distracted, he'd have had it easily. Selig has Britney detained to examine the evidence.

Late breaking news! After a hurriedly convened meeting between Bud and assorted politicians, used car salesmen, and bookies.....er, I mean trusted advisors, it was determined that an official televison timeout was called and that Bonds knowingly and deliberately played on. Bonds has now been declared out, the HR disallowed, the game declared tied and the season declared tentatively over. The final ruling will be issued from Florida.
