Reports abound of the Washington Nationals trying to trade and could possibly release former Padre catcher Derek Norris.
WTH?
Seems like they're setting themselves up for a nasty "told you so" if/when Matt Wieters gets hurt.
Depth is good. The Norris contract isn't awful and the word is Norris is a much better pitch framer than Wieters.
Surely you can shop him around and maybe get a positive gain at another position while picking up a lesser catcher but it seems like releasing Norris would be a move that could come back to haunt them.

It could be being done as a kindness/professional courtesy to Norris so he has the opportunity to catch on with another team to potentially have a starting job to start the season.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.
