It's early, sure, but Stuff is still fun.....
Kevin Pillar has been the most boring hitter in baseball so far this year.
Pillar has not struck out and drawn only one base on balls.
He has six singles and no extra base hits.
His line....231/1/0/0/0
Pillar's teammate, Russell Martin, is anything but boring. He still hasn't gotten a base hit.
And like Pillar, he has zero rbi.
Remember when Toronto used to score a lot of runs? Good times.
Toronto pitcher Jay Happ is a sabermetric wet dream.
17 k's
0 bb
Of course, he is 0-2
Miguel Cabrera has three singles to right field.
No extra base hits.
No rbi.
No runs.
No fun for his drafters.
Leading off, high draft pick Jonathon Villar has two homers....and scored three runs.
Hitting in front of Freddy Freeman, Dansby Swanson has.....one run.....he hit a homer to get that.....
Manny Machado has one less homer and has scored the same amount of runs as....Madison Bumgarner....
130 players have drawn more base on balls than Joey Votto.
Figures. Put two speedsters like Hamilton and Peraza in front of him and NOW Joey starts swinging....
Dee Gordon has not walked.
Neither has Trea Turner.
Turner also does not have a run or rbi
George Springer leads baseball with five homers. Springer has scored six times.
On April 12, 2016, Trevor Story had seven home runs.
On April 12, 2017, Trevor Story has zero home runs.
Story has struck out in 13 of 28 at bats.
Story has nothing on Byron Buxton.
Buxton leads the Bigs with 17 strike outs.
If strike outs were hits, Buxton would be batting .586
Buxton has nothing on Brandon Moss.
If strike outs were hits, Moss would be hitting .625
Andrew McCutchen just called.
He'd like for me to retract my comment about Pillar being THE most boring hitter.
McCutchen also has just six singles.
His line....214/1/0/1/0
Speaking of Pittsburgh, they are tied for the least amount of home runs in baseball.
Just three.
The other team with only three homers?
A team who is usually very fluent in home runs.
Now, they just have the flu.
The Boston Red Sox.
Wil Myers has eight extra base hits.
Eight Runs.
Eight rbi
Zero BB
Wil Myers is anything but boring.
JA Happ, Michael Pineda, Chris Sale, Lance McCullers, Madison Bumgarner, Noah Syndergaard, Jake Arrieta, and Jeff Samardzduh have more strike outs than any other pitchers in baseball.
Combined, they have 132 K's in just 16 games.
Their Win-loss record ?
5-7
Along those same lines, Jake Arrieta is the only pitcher among 23 who have at least 13 strike outs to win each of his first two games.
Snap up Adam Morgan! He has eight k's in six innings.
Oh wait. He has also given up six homers in those six innings.
Julio Teheran has a 0.00 ERA.
Of course, he has zero Wins.
Popular fantasy draft picks Aroldis Chapman and Kenley Jansen have one Save.....between them.
What do Francisco Liriano and Jerome Guthrie have in common?
A 135.00 ERA
Sam Dyson has recorded nine outs. Fourteen base runners. Eleven earned runs. Millions of owners realizing that Dyson sucks.
Christian Bethancourt has recorded five outs and walked six batters.
He threw more strikes from the squat then on the mound.
Who has given up the most hits in baseball?
No, Dyson owners, it's not Him.
Last year's Cy Young award winner Rick Porcello has allowed 17 hits.
Gerritt Cole's ERA (6.55) is higher than the strike outs (6) he has recorded.
Dallas Keuchel only has eight k's.
His owners don't care.
Clayton Kershaw has allowed 10 hits and no walks this year.
Unfortunately, five have come around to score as earned runs.
Giving Kershaw the unusual combo of a 3.46 ERA and 0.77 WHIP
How early is it?
Only two players have multiple homers and stolen bases.
Aledyms Diaz 3 homers, 2 stolen bases and Paul Goldschmidt, 2 each.
Catchers James McCann and Geo Soto have eight hits.
Six, have left the ball park.
San Diego has 11 home runs......Toronto has four.
Who has given up the least runs in baseball this year?
That pitching rich team of the Cincinnati Reds (19).
Of course.
And who has the best team ERA in baseball?
That pitching rich team of the Minnesota Twins (2.07)
And which pitching staff has the most strike outs?
That pitching rich team of the Colorado Rockies (91)
In contrast, the old man pitching staff that is the Atlanta Braves, have recorded just 38 strike outs.

Re: Stuff
Dan: Great "stuff." Kind of reinforces that no matter how much baseball we watch, and how much effort we put into preparing for our drafts, we don't know a lot more than we do know.

Re: Stuff
Gotta love the first two weeks of baseball season...

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.
