How many ways can we tell you that you suck?
Pablo Sandoval can't hit lefties (.150)
The Red Sox don't want him to play 3b when their own lefty is on the hill (Pomeranz, Price, Sale, ERodriguez) because of his pathetic defense.
He is one of the few baseball players in history who makes millions of dollars and can't hit, run, or play defense.
It is so hard for these teams to admit mistakes with bad contracts.
Sandoval has been hidden on the dl lists, sent to fat farms, and benched.
He is the Eddie Lacy of baseball.
Send him out to pasture, Boston.
We're trying to suck, but our division sucks as bad as we do!!
The Royals had a plan going into the season. They would play poorly, sell off all their players, and start over again.
They executed the first part of their plan deftly.
They are a mediocre 30-34.
The problem being that record is good enough to be only four games out of first place.
The Royals would love to trade Jason Vargas who will be a free agent next year.
And Lorenzo Cain.
And Kelvin Herrera.
And Joakim Soria.
And Alex Gordon and Alcides Escobar if they can find somebody desperate enough to take them.
And maybe even Moustakas, Hosmer, or Sal Perez if somebody would over pay for them.
The problem is that both Central divisions in baseball are bad from top to bottom.
The Royals cannot escape being close to being a 'contender'.
Trading Vargas, at the peak of what they could receive for him, would take balls.
Trading the most productive player while still within reach of first place incurs the wrath of the press, which in turn draws the ire of fans.
Would it be the best thing to do for the Kansas City Royals?
Probably.
But like the Red Sox admitting they made a mistake with Sandoval, the Royals would have to admit that they don't really have the horses to win a World Championship.
So, the Red Sox will grudgingly keep their worst player and the Royals will grudgingly keep their best player.
Isn't baseball fun?
This Story has an ending....and it's Brendan Rodgers
Everybody wished they owned Trevor Story for the first couple of months of last year.
Since then, not so much.
Injury hurt Story last year.
Under performance this year.
Somewhere, in between his over performance of last year and his under performing of this year, lies the real Trevor Story.
Story is running out of fantasy time, however.
A lot of Story's worthiness for fantasy drafters stem from where he hits. Coors Field.
If Story continues to under perform, he may lose that venue.
Brendan Rodgers is tearing up High A ball to the tune of .400 and 11 homers. He'll soon move up the ladder to AA and perhaps a short time later, AAA before joining the Rockies.
The Rockies already have a crowded offense in both the infield and outfield.
The name of this Story is 'Living on Borrowed Time'.
Judge Me Not
Who is the most prolific homer hitting player in baseball this year?
Since starting play on Opening Day, it has been Aaron Judge.
Since his call-up in late April, it has been Cody Bellinger.
Aaron Judge does not beat a teammate for most homers this month.
Gary Sanchez and Bellinger, both, have seven June home runs.
KMart Has More RBI
Victor Martinez hits cleanup for the Detroit Tigers.
Rather, he hits fourth.
That's him in the lineup, right between Miguel Cabrera and JD Martinez.
He's not cleaning up anything in June.
In 39 at bats in June, VMart has zero rbi.
On the bright side for fantasy owners, he is only avaible at your Utility spot.
Ok, that was just mean.
How bad is it for Detroit with their middle of the lineup?
Miguel Cabrera and Martinez have been rotten.
Let's compare the middle of the Detroit order to the bottom of the order for the Atlanta Braves.
Miggy/VMart- .....265/10/57
Flowers/Swanson .262/10/49

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Re: Ramblings
Sample size alert with the following tidbit:
Scooter Gennett had 4 homers in a game earlier this year.
Justin Upton had 4 homers at this time last year, total, for the whole season, on June 16, 2016.
Justin Upton finished with 31 homers.

Re: Ramblings
Good stuff, Dan. The Tigers, sitting on an identical record in the same division, are in the same boat as Kansas City, but with even more expensive players they could potentially purge.
Re: Ramblings
Tampa Bay, who is one game over .500, has scored 17 more runs than they've allowed. Baltimore, one game under .500, has been outscored by 47 runs.
