Wrong Handers

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Mon Aug 21, 2017 5:00 pm

A post about lefties.....
Andy Nolan is a lefty.....I try not to hold it against him.

First, a couple of questions. The answers will be at the bottom of this post...

1. Which pitcher has struck out the most left handed hitters?

2. Which left handed pitcher has struck out the most left handed batters and where does he rank in the striking out of wrong handers?

They are a little bit of trick questions.....Now for some Stuff about lefties....

Billy Hamilton leads baseball in stolen bases....
But off of left handed pitchers, Dee Gordon (14) has twice as many thefts as Hamilton (7)

Felipe Rivero has a 0.36 WHIP vs. left handed batters

Troy Tulowitzki hit 1 hr and batted .169 vs. southpaws...
In previous years, Tulo was drafted with the fear that he would see the disabled list, now that fear is gone.
He's a better hitter on the disabled list

Michael Taylor should give up his life of crime vs. lefties....He has stolen one base, caught four times

Regular players who should be platoon players....
Rougned Odor 117 at bats, .171 avg, 3 hr's
Jake Lamb 98 at bats, .143 avg, 5 hr's
Max Kepler 90 at bats, .144 avg, 0 hr's
Kyle Schwarber 70 at bats, .171 avg, 2 hr's

Charlie Blackmon is a fellow who laughs at other managers bringing in their left handed specialists.
Blackmon hits .347 and has scored a MLB leading 30 runs off lefties.

Blackmon's teammate, Nolan Arenado hits over .400 vs. wrong handers...
He also leads with 12 homers and 37 rbi off lefties

Who is second and third in rbi?
Lefties Cody Bellinger and Anthony Rizzo

85 sweet swingers have had at bats vs. Craig Kimbrel, 49 have struck out
Lefties are still twice as likely to get a hit off Kimbrel as righties
Kimbrel has just been THAT good this year

The top eight hitters who draw walks off lefties are all big boppers that lefties want to avoid...except one
Robbie Grossman is the sixth most walked batter facing lefties this year

Dellin Betances has not allowed a homer to a left handed batter this year

Ready for the answers to the little quiz?

Here we go.....

1. Chris Archer has struck out 97 left handed hitters this year

2. Jon Lester is the leading strike out artist vs. same handed batters. Lester has only struck out 48 lefties and ranks 52nd in striking out lefties.
A little bit of a trick question because Managers love stacking right handed batters vs. lefties.
Chris Sale with 250 strike outs, has only k'd 30 left handed batters this year.
Right handed batters are 'hitting' .190 against Sale, lefties, .216
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

Somewhere Shawn Childs sheds a tear.... :D
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.
