Kazuhisa Makita

Post by Yah Mule » Wed Mar 07, 2018 12:47 pm

I finally got a look at the Padres new submariner from Japan. I'm not sure I've ever seen a Major League pitcher with less velocity in his repertoire. He reportedly throws six pitches. His fastball touches 81 and some of his junk doesn't even trip the radar gun. One curveball he threw that registered on the gun last night read 54 miles an hour.

Isn't that release point (i.e. so far below the belt) illegal?
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

My bad. I always thought the release point was prescribed.
