Papelbon could be better than Peavy..........

Post by Crazy Like a Fox » Sun Mar 11, 2007 10:41 pm

I'm not sure where Papelbon is going in drafts but this guy is unreal. I can't see this guy failing as a starter.

For me, he either tears it up as a starter or you get an SP closer that is one of the best in the league. There is the injury risk, but with most pitchers there will always be that risk.

I like him in the 4th or 5th round. I really think this guy is going to be great. It seems like people don't take him very seriously as a starter, not even his own team.

It is difficult to see how he can make the transition from closer to starter, but it's not like this guy has never started before.

He's not a sleeper by any means but he is VERY underrated in my opinion. He's an absolute stud and will be a steal in just about any round.

Interesting thought. I will move him ahead of Peavy on my sheets now that I have this vital information. Thanks for sharing.
OK - So I'm not as good as I thought I was; but at least I am consistent.

thanks for the smart response. I was just making a comment about Papelbon's potential. I certainly would not put him ahead of Peavy in any draft. I was merely stating the potential for Papelbon to have a better year. I'm sure not too many think it's possible, I do, and Papelbon should not be underrated.

Crazy - I meant you no disrespect. The thing is, if you think he is underrated; that's the kind of thought to keep to yourself until after the draft. After the party is over is a much better time to give out secret picks and top sleepers. You may have just reminded the guy picking right before you that this kid is that good.

Best of luck to you and remember to keep your notes to yourself at the draft. Keep them guessing.

Top Dawg. I respect your last post. You make a very good point. It doesn't make sense for me to annoint Papelbon as this incredible pick as it could interfere in me getting him.

Thanks for posting again, it clarifies what you were trying to say.

Papelbon is a bum...no talent bum...he will be a cheap seats beer vendor by the All-Star Break. There is NO WAY he will make it on MY team! ;)
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.
