Vince Clemente Wins 2018 Auction Champ. & $25,000

Vince Clemente of Elmhurst, Illinois has won the 2018 NFBC Auction Championship and the $25,000 grand prize as he defeated a field of 180 teams. Vince competed in Chicago on the First Weekend of auctions and finished 17.5 points ahead of Mike Mager for the title. Mike won $7,500 for his runner-up finish. Rounding out the Top 5 money winners were Jason Duponte ($5,000), Matt Modica ($3,750) and James Maples ($2,750).

Vince was active in the NFBC this year as he had a number of NFBC Cutline Championship and NFBC Draft Champions teams. He won one Auction League title and one Rotowire Online Championship league title, finishing 42nd overall in that one. He competed in the Chicago Main Event, where he finished fifth in that league.

Interestingly the "closers" he bought were Claudio for $2 and Greene for $7 and still ended up with 66 saves and 7 points. Who needs closers anyways?!

Side note - Chicago auction is worth attending just to watch. You never know what you will see. In the case of Auction Champ Vince - you will see a full pot of coffee (one of those industrial ones) and a fair amount of bickering between he and his auction partner. I think the chaos is just a show as they lull everyone into a false sense of security. Whatever the case - the real show was EFORCE domination.
