Where Did The 2018 NFBC League Champions Draft From?

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Fri Oct 19, 2018 2:43 pm

I know I posted this in the Multiple League Champions thread, but I wanted to create a separate thread to look at the draft spots that our Main Event league champions and other major league champions drafted from in 2018. Here's the data again from the Main Event and then I'll look at some of the other draft leagues. Enjoy.

We had 34 Main Event leagues in 2018 and every draft spot except 14 produced at least ONE Main Event league champion. That's pretty amazing. The No. 8 spot was the sweet spot as it produced five Main Event League champions, but it was pretty spread out. Here's a list of the Main Event league champions and where they drafted from:

2018 NFBC Main Event League Champions
Their Draft Spots:
No. 1 Pick - 3 League Champions
No. 2 Pick - 2 League Champions
No. 3 Pick - 2 League Champions
No. 4 Pick - 1 League Champion
No. 5 Pick - 2 League Champions
No. 6 Pick - 2 League Champions
No. 7 Pick - 3 League Champions
No. 8 Pick - 5 League Champions
No. 9 Pick - 4 League Champion
No. 10 Pick - 1 League Champion
No. 11 Pick - 4 League Champions
No. 12 Pick - 3 League Champions
No. 13 Pick - 1 League Champion
No. 14 Pick - 0 League Champions
No. 15 Pick - 1 League Champion

Nos. 1-5: 10 League Champions
Nos. 6-10: 15 League Champions
Nos. 11-15: 9 League Champions

Very similar to last year when you look at where the league champions drafted from. Pretty interesting.

In the private high-stakes leagues, spots 9 and 10 won half of the league titles. Here is where the league champions drafted from in 2018:

Platinum - Pick 9
Diamond - Pick 15
Ultimate NY - Pick 3
Ultimate Online - Pick 12
Super - Pick 6
Super - Pick 10
Super - Pick 10
Super - Pick 10
Super - Pick 5
Super 12-Team - Pick 9

Winning picks:
Pick 3 - one champion
Pick 5 - one champion
Pick 6 - one champion
Pick 9 - two champions
Pick 10 - three champions
Pick 12 - one champion
Pick 15 - one champion

Pretty interesting.

I don't have a breakdown for all of the 12-team Online Championship leagues since we had almost 150 of them, but here are the results from the $1500 and $750 leagues:

Pick 11 - $1500 OC Plus March 25
Pick 6 - $1500 OC Plus March 28
Pick 2 - $750 OC Plus March 25
Pick 8 - $750 OC Plus March 15
Pick 8 - $750 OC Plus March 27
Pick 8 - $750 OC Plus Las Vegas March 23
Pick 10 - $750 OC Plus March 24
Pick 8 - $750 OC Plus March 27

That's 4 of the 8 league champions from the No. 8 spot with only picks 2 and 6 appearing in the top half of the 12-team champions' drafts. Interesting.

The $1500 and $750 OC Plus leagues will be returning in 2019 as we added one more $750 league from the previous year. We like the $4,000 and $9,000 league prizes for this 12-team format and I think some of our owners do, too. Plus it doesn't hurt anything to have these higher price points or the live drafts for them as part of the overall contest. Several owners from these higher-priced leagues this year battled for the overall title, so that was good. Good luck all.
