NY $1250 Auction Predictions....

Post by fandango » Sun Mar 18, 2007 1:50 am

Tom, Another fine job in NY...even with a drafter on the phone, it was a very smooth draft, great job by auctioneer.....

Anyone venture any predictions? i can think of 1, but i dont want to get anyone upset.....

all i can say is that Team Fandango is built on Fundamentals...Pitching and middle of the lineup Players....

1B Fielder (bats 3rd)

2B Utley (bats 3rd)

SS H Ramirez (bats 1st)

3B Teahen (bats 3rd)

UT Aurilia (bats 5th behind Baroid)

OF Cuddyer (bats 4th)

OF Ibanez (bats 4th)

OF Ordonez (bats 5th)

OF Byrnes (bats 4th)

OF Church (bats 2nd)

P Smoltz #1

P Lackey #1

P Harang #1

P Lowe #1

P Bush #3

P Rogers #1

P Washburn#1

P Looper

P Villanueva

P A Miller

Rp Saito

Rp Gonzalez

Rp Linebrink

Rp Lindstrom

This league will be decided preseason if a couple things happens....Linebrink gets traded (as was reported to me by inside source who jumped the gun), or M Gonzalez (who has never blown a save) overtakes oldman Wickman....

Good Luck to most everyone! This should be a very competitive year......

You trying to pass off Rogers and Washburn as #1's on their teams is HILARIOUS!

Starting opening day doesn't mean you are #1 material, and CERTAINLY not the best pitcher on the team!

That being said, all those "3 and 4 hitters" don't amount to a lot of power.

Add in saves are a ZERO at the moment, and this team will finish anywhere from 5th - 10th (without seeing the other rosters).

Did you draft a Main team Fandango?

HR are overrated, they usually come with a lower Average...anyone can draft DUNN, Sexton, Giambi etc for HR, at the expense of 4 other categories...
Saito won't have a job by midseason IMO, and you are HOPING the other guys pan out.

As for HR's, everytime one is hit, you get a run and AT LEAST one RBI. How they kill your RBI's and even runs (some do) is a mystery to me. There are plenty of other players who hit HR's AND don't kill your average.

HR's and RBI's for you will be 5 or less IMO.

Your offense looks really strong.

Starting pitching is OK, but the bullpen is skeptical.

NO ONE has a team with no holes, but overall I like your squad (especially for an auction).

Definately a good time Friday Night! Even though the drafters in the other room dogged all the food ;)

HR are overrated, they usually come with a lower Average...anyone can draft DUNN, Sexton, Giambi etc for HR, at the expense of 4 other categories... I guess RBI and Runs are overrated too. They come with the HRs. I agree the 3 players above would never be on my team either.I would have to draft Ichiro and Vlad to pull up average. But Hr are not overrated.

Team #11

C Piazza

C Montero

1B D Lee

3B Beltre

CI Braun

2B Kendrick

SS S Drew

MI Weeks

OF Vladamir

OF Baldelli

OF Crisp

OF Mathews Jr

OF J Guillen

DH Sosa

P Sheets

P Schilling

P Je Weaver (LAA)

P Patterson

P Thomson

P Greinke

P Valverde

P Benitez

P Tankersley

Bench

C Ruiz

MI A Hill

OF A Sanchez

OF J Baker

3B Koskie (Don't ask)

RP Julio

RP Petit

I definately need pitchers to be healthy and Braun to make the team.

Good Luck to all.

I second your comments, Michael did a nice job, even with a terrible phone connection to deal with

Good luck to you and everyone.

Hi Nutty,

It was nice to meet you and welcome to the Auction League. You certainly did go overboard on your first four pitchers and it is going to be tough on offense. BA may also be a challenge with Dunn holding you down. My other concern is after your big 4, your pitching goes downhill fast. I have my fingers crossed for you, but this may be a painful year :(

Good luck,

Spyhunter (aka Chris)

Spyhunter (aka Chris) Thanks Chris. It was great meeting you and everyone involved with the draft. I really had a great time. Those were my thoughts too. Could be a real challenging year. I have injury prone all over my line up! LOL Hopefully it won't be too ugly! Best of luck to you too! Despite the pain I'll still have fun!
SPY good assessment on the speed, but i believe teahen will steal 20, church 15, fielder 10, utley 15, which gives me about 140 SB's which is enough for top 1/3....

Seeing some other rosters, I'm beginning to think my team is a little better than I thought. I only have to worry about injuries (Griffey/Edmonds) and saves. The rest of my team is solid compared to what I have seen so far. Agree??

Mark, even with Lopez and Suzuki steals might be a little thin if Bay doesnt run and Burke loses his job to Pence. You could have problems with your staff and not much in the way of help from your reserves.

I like your core SP, very solid. On your offense, I do think that you have a solid core of offense, but will Cantu rebound? Will Blaylock? Your speed looks like about 100-110 sb off the top of my head. will get you points, but not top 5.

good luck and nice to be playing with you

Red Sox Nation,

How did we let you put together that team? Ouch, we are all in trouble. Anyway, nice job. Only issues I really see are BA (cameron, jones, etc...) could hurt a bit and speed if Upton goesn't get a job. Hopefully for the rest of us Jacobs will also do poorly
