PreMature E-Draftulation Draft
PreMature E-Draftulation Draft
Yes, there is a draft going on...
Here are the results of the first round....
ROUND ONE
1. Max Scherzer
2. Fernando Tatis Jr.
3. Trea Turner
4. Walker Buehler
5. Vladimir Guerrero
6. Shohei Ohtani
7. Juan Soto
8. Bo Bichette
9. Jose Ramirez
10. Mookie Betts
11. Corbin Burnes
12. Bryce Harper
13. Gerrit Cole
14. Kyle Tucker
15. Ronald Acuna Jr.
Notes....
This is the first draft I recall, ever, where three out of the first four picks came from the same team....
An average of seven players return to be first rounders the following year in this draft.
This was the case again this year...(Acuna Jr., Tatis Jr., Ramirez, Cole, Soto, Betts, Turner)
Max Scherzer (38 next year) may be the oldest player to ever be chosen number one in an NFBC draft.
Last year, there was a pitching 'Big three' (deGrom, Cole, Bieber), not so this year.
The end of dominance. Since maintaining fantasy dominance, both Mike Trout and Mookie Betts have been taken within the first five picks in this draft. Not this year.
Here are the results of the first round....
ROUND ONE
1. Max Scherzer
2. Fernando Tatis Jr.
3. Trea Turner
4. Walker Buehler
5. Vladimir Guerrero
6. Shohei Ohtani
7. Juan Soto
8. Bo Bichette
9. Jose Ramirez

Nice Dan...very interesting...a 38 year old pitcher #1 and a stud with a bad wing #2. Myself, love some Vladdy...
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

The Fall of Mike Trout....
Drafters didn't want to risk a first round pick on deGrom, but the second round won the risk/reward inner battle...
Guys like Luis Robert befuddle me. They miss most of the season and are taken higher than last year. Go figure...
2/3 of the Big Three are second rounders....
Cedric Mullins goes from obscurity to the second round...
Mike Trout a second rounder...wrapping my head around that....

Re: PreMature E-Draftulation Draft
True...very true. Injuries (Acuna, Trout), off years to say the least even when healthy (Betts), great players on meh teams (Soto) etc. etc. The typical NFBC 'consensus" may be more diverse going in to March 2022 than ever before.DOUGHBOYS wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 8:13 pmYou just never know, right Wayne?...Edwards Kings wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 5:55 pmNice Dan...very interesting...a 38 year old pitcher #1 and a stud with a bad wing #2. Sal Perez supplants JT Realmuto as the hot Catcher....And with good reason
Matt Olson hit for AVG this year prompting a move up...
Is there some kind of law that Merrifield and Anderson be drafted within 15 picks of each other?.....
Tyler O'Neill stayed relatively healthy in '21...He'll be rewarded for that...
I dare say that if George Springer had stayed healthy this year, the Blue Jays would be in the playoffs...and would have gone much higher...

Re: PreMature E-Draftulation Draft
Dough we had a brief moment before the draft and asked if deGrom would fall to us at 21 we said no way and that was the end of the conversation so it wasn’t even in the plan. Could be a steal but we might hear in a week that his arm has been amputated. We thought it was worth the shot. Always fun drafting with you guys
Re: PreMature E-Draftulation Draft
To me, it is the ultimate risk/reward pick.
That is what is SOOOO difficult about drafting at this time of year.
Do we believe deGrom in that his arm is golden?
Do we believe Alderson in that he has a small tear?
Do we believe the Mets in that he needs to 'recover'.
Intrigue everywhere with that pick.
You guys have balls, Greg!

Great work as always getting this premature draft running each year and then posting on the MBs.
Just glad I can be a part of it. It’s been a fun first 8 or so rounds.

Gotta love our hobby.
Buxton, the uber-talented player who can't stay on the field is drafted next to steady, everyday, Jose Abreu...
Nola, Giolito, and Flaherty were all going in the second round of last March drafts...
'Up and Away' Robbie Ray has officially become a thing again...
Story takes a big fall because of performance, his move to another team, or both?....
Like Buxton, Mondesi keeps getting hurt...
And like Buxton, they still maintain high draft status...
Javy Baez, I'm sure, would give us a thumbs down for not being selected higher...
