Is James Shields for real? any thoughts on his production the rest of the way. Is 175 strikeouts
reasonable?
James Shields stud or dud?
James Shields stud or dud?
I picked Shields up in the 2nd half last year. He began 06 sharp out of the gate, hit a wall, and then regained form before an injury shortened his season. I think he has the stuff to be a reliable number 2 or 3 starter with good a good K rate. As a young developing pitcher he'll probably have periods of inconsistency (seemed to have bouts of 1 inning-itis last year) but overall I think you'll be pleased with what you get from him.

Stud...in 2-3 years.
For now, very good pitcher. Judging by where he was taken, looks like #4 on most staffs, which will be great value, very solid #3 guy.
