Mike Mager Wins 2024 NFBC Auction Championship & $30,000

Mike Mager of East Greenbush, New York won the 2024 NFBC Auction Championship title and the $30,000 grand prize as he bested a field of 165 teams for the title. Mike competed in the Las Vegas $2500 Auction Championship League on Friday, March 22nd at 10 am and won his league title and then won his first NFBC overall title.

In fact, Mike really led this Auction Championship from start to finish. He took the lead in April and never gave it up. He finished 147 points ahead of Mark Northan and he also had a team that finished fifth overall. Brian Jenner had the third and fourth place overall teams. Mark won $7,500 for his runner-up finish, while Brian won a combined $10,000 for his third and fourth place finishes. We paid the Top 12 teams overall and the Top 3 teams in each league.

Mike's winning total of 1,515.5 points was 91.8 percent of available points in this 165-team field. That's the highest percentage of points in the 14-year history of this Auction Championship. Mike finished with 139 points to win his league title, also one of the highest winning point totals in this format.

Mike's team was led by Shohei Ohtani, who he got for $35, along with William Contreras ($16), Bryan Reynolds ($17), Emmanuel Clase ($19) and Sean Manaea ($2). Getting Brice Turang in the reserve round didn't hurt, either. Well done Mike.

Great job everyone and we look forward to another big auction championship season in 2025. After finishing one league short of our goal in 2024, we'll try to fill a couple of Auction Championship leagues on the East Coast on Friday, March 14th. We'll also try to get 8 or 9 leagues in Las Vegas at Park MGM and hopefully we can get 2-3 more Online like we did last year. I think we'll reach a sellout this year of 12 leagues and 195 teams for this great format. There's nothing like auction leagues, right everyone?
