Clark Olson Wins 2024 NFBC Main Event & $200,000 Prize

NFBC Charter Member Clark Olson of Las Vegas, Nevada won the 2024 NFBC Main Event title and the $200,000 grand prize in dramatic fashion as he held off Jason Santeiu on the final day of the season for the title. The two had traded places at the top several times during the final week, including three times on Saturday, but Clark had a big day on Sunday to win the overall title by 77 points.

Clark became our 20th different Main Event champion in the 21 years of this contest, with only Lindy HInkelman having won this title twice. He joined the NFBC in 2004 and was the first back-to-back champion of Main Event league titles in 2004 and 2005. He had four Main Event teams this year and they finished 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th in their leagues, while finishing 1st, 23rd and 62nd overall. He now has won 10 Main Event league titles in his career, third best behind NFBC Hall of Famers Mark Srebro and Steve Jupinka.

Clark entered this season 29th overall on the career earnings list, but will likely jump into the Top 15 after winning this year's $200,000 grand prize. Clark has won Main Event league titles in 2004, 2005, 2012, 2017, 2020, 2021,2022, 2023, 2023 and 2024, an incredible run since 2020. He has certainly made a strong case for a Hall of Fame induction himself with 21 consistently good years.

While Jason didn't win the Main Event overall title, he did finish 2nd, 3rd and 25th overall while winning three Main Event league titles. His 2nd place overall team actually edged Clark Olson for the league title in that one. He won $50,000 for the runner-up finish, $30,000 for the third place finish and $2,300 for the 25th finish, plus $21,000 in league prizes. Just an amazing year Jason and congrats on the three league titles and the three Top 25 overall finishes.

Clark is a multi-sport national champion as he also won the NFFC Primetime in 2016, earning the $150,000 grand prize that year. He's 28th overall in NFFC career earnings and is one of the best players in that sport as well.

Clark won this national championship in a league that was called the "League of Death" when it was first revealed. It was the 8th Main Event league drawn in Las Vegas on Saturday, March 23rd and it included past NFBC Main Event overall champions Lindy Hinkelman, Dave Potts and James Tomony. Clark also drew the 15th pick in this league, which seemed less than ideal at the time. In fact, of his four Main Event teams Clark drew the 15th pick twice and the 14th pick twice.

But he made it work in this league and finished with 142 league points to win this title going away. Lindy HInkelman, the only two-time Main Event overall champion from the past 21 years, finished second in this league with 107.5 points and Tomony finished third with 100.5 points. Clark built the foundation of his team around Jose Ramirez and Shohei Ohtani and he never complained about the 15th pick the rest of the year!!!

Clark's Hell Bent for Leather team finished with a winning total of 7,839.5 points or 91.7 percent of all available points, which ranks fourth best among all Main Event overall champions. His 142.0 league points is the sixth highest among all NFBC Main Event overall champions. The NFBC Main Event finished with a record 855 teams in 2024.

Congrats to all 57 of our Main Event league champions this year and to the Top 35 in the overall who cashed. This was our 21st anniversary season and it was our biggest and best one ever. To go from 195 teams in our inaugural season of 2004 to 855 teams 20 years later has been an impressive growth pattern and we couldn't be happier. We're also proud to crown a great champion in Clark Olson, who has been so consistently successful for so many years and who finally broke through to win the most prestigious title in the fantasy baseball industry. Congrats again Clark. And thanks to everyone who competed in the industry's premiere event and congrats again to everyone who earned prize money in this contest.

Clark Olson became the second straight Main Event overall champion to draft from the 15th spot. Brian Slack also won the 2023 NFBC Main Event overall title from the 15th spot. Clark built his foundation around his first two picks, Jose Ramirez and Shohei Ohtani, but he also found bargains later in Willy Adames, Anthony Santander, Josh Naylor and Sean Manaea.
