Todd Hoppe Wins 2025 NFBC Main Event & $200,000 Prize

Todd Hoppe of Portland, Oregon won the 2025 NFBC Main Event title and the $200,000 grand prize, becoming our 21st different Main Event overall champion in 22 years. Only NFBC Hall of Famer Lindy Hinkelman has won this overall title twice.

Hoppe, 41, was in first place among 855 Main Event teams for much of the second half of the season as he took the lead in Week 16 (July 7th) and never looked back. This team, which he drafted on the final night of the drafting season at the latest possible time (11:30 pm ET), moved into the overall lead in Week 7 and never dropped out of the Top 3 after that. He held off all challengers and finished with 7,771.5 points, a 332.5 point advantage over Scott Slezak. Gregg Martin finished third overall, followed by Andrew Geller and Dave Petroziello.

His 7,771.5 points in the overall competition represented 90.89 percent of all available points, the fifth highest percentage in our 22-year history of the Main Event. His 136.0 league points are the 13th highest among all NFBC Main Event overall champions.

This is Todd's third Main Event league title as he won the March 26th, 11:30 pm ET Main Event Online league with 136 points. He also had another Main Event team that finished 2nd in its league and 73rd overall. He took a total of three Main Event teams in 2025, with the other team finishing 6th in its league and 246th overall. He also won one $150 Draft Champions league title and one $50 Draft Champions league title as he had a total of 19 teams in 2025.

Todd first joined the NFBC in 2018 and he entered the Main Event in 2020 for the first time, winning a Sprint Main Event league title that year. He won another Main Event league title in 2021 and now has won his third Main Event league title in 2025.

The race for second place in the Main Event overall was a tight one as Scott Slezak edged Gregg Martin on the final day for that $50,000 prize. Gregg won $30,000 for his third place finish. Andrew Geller won $25,000 for his fourth place finish, but he won more in league prizes. Geller had four Main Event teams and he won league titles in all four leagues, the first person that I can remember ever winning four league titles in a single year (certainly with only four teams). He had teams that finished 11th, 16th and 43rd overall. The Top 8 teams won at least $10,000 in the Main Event this year.

League prizes increased to $7,500 this year with second place in each league earning $3,700 and third place earning $1,800. We paid the Top 34 teams overall as listed below.

Hoppe won his league title by 21 points as he drafted from the 8th spot in this final Main Event Online league of the season. He built this team around Jose Ramirez and Zach Wheeler, with Freddy Peralta (8th round), Aroldis Chapman (9th round) and Nathan Eovaldi (13th round) contributing mightily. Congrats Todd on building this championship team.

Congrats to all 57 of our Main Event league champions this year and to the Top 34 in the overall who cashed, along with our Week 25 Legacy winners. This was our 22nd anniversary season and it was our biggest and best one ever. This was our second straight season of reaching 855 teams in the Main Event, which is a far cry from the 195 teams we finished with in our debut season of 2004. Congrats again Todd. Thanks to everyone who competed in the industry's premiere event and congrats again to everyone who earned prize money in this contest.

And our 2025 NFBC draft room will open this week as we'll host drafts throughout October and then officially launch the new site right after the completion of the World Series. We're already well onto our way to the start of the 2026 season with the Rio in Las Vegas already secured as the new host site in March and a return to New Jersey for those East Coast drafters. Todd Hoppe drafted from the 8th spot in this March 26th, 11:30 pm ET Main Event Online League.
