i urge all of my fellow players to submit bids as early as you can and then tweak them where necessary. doing that could only HELP you.

As bad as this situation was yesterday for all of you, I'm realizing tonight that some of you got absolutely no response from me via e-mail. Krause's e-mail service has been on the fritz since Thursday and it was shut down completely on Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon. It finally went back up on Sunday early afternoon and I thought I had complete access to everything.
I did get some e-mails directly to me at the FAAB deadline, but our e-mail service died again this morning and it's been basically down since. I am just now receiving some e-mails from guys like Greg Morgan, Ari Benjamin and Jeff Dobies that were sent at 7:05 EST last night. I have NO idea why those did not come through to me until now, but I feel like those guys and others may be sitting at home wondering why I never responded to their requests.
I also know that Greg called STATS to get his changes in and he was unable to. It's an extremely frustrating situation right now for me because so many people did things right and we still couldn't get this right. And the fact that our company e-mail is so screwed up really makes me look foolish. I have no idea if Tom and I will have e-mail access tomorrow either, so I apologize completely for the non-responsiveness. It's not because we're on the road or working on football or don't care about this situation. It's because our damn company e-mail system is working worse than the NFBC FAAB system did last night. That's how bad it is.
I apologize to Jeff, Greg, Ari and anybody else who e-mailed me and still hasn't gotten a response. I decided to post here because I'm not sure an e-mail will get through to you or anyone else right now. Sorry that I can't change anything that happened yesterday, but I am hearing your complaints now, about an e-mail an hour, unfortunately. Technology SUCKS sometimes!

I was not involved in the problem on Sunday but with my background in IT (38 years with Norwest & Wells Fargo) it is clear to me that Stats is missing something major. You can't have this big of a problem and report back that you found nothing. If you as a service provider see no issue and the users keep reporting a problem, you should be VERY worried. The fact that the FA list was showing all the players certainly indicates something other then a "run of the mill" slowdown. As Mark pointed out, it is more likely to be some kind of an issue with the database, a reorg or a back-up or maintenance job running or possibly even a security problem.
Maybe a log file filled up and was switching to an alternate, there are lots of possibilities. Was STATS asked if other users then NFBC reported issues? STATS needs to determine if this was a system wide issue or limited in scope to the NFBC. I don't think this would be the first time that a DP service provider has not been totally frank about system issues. I am certainly interested in hearing STATS technical explanation for this issue. Hopefully STATS performs a post mortem after issues like this to determine the issue and come up with plans on how to prevent it from happening again in the future.

The point is that while acts of god can and do occur, that the tech system of STATS is easy to control and ensure is up around the 4-7pm Sunday timeframe.
