Three-Time NFBC League Champ: Shawn Childs

I know we still have one day left in the NFBC regular season and so I'll wait to officially crown our fourth overall champion until tomorrow. But today I think we can acknowledge a few repeat champions.

At the top of the list is Shawn Childs of Forestdale, Massachusetts as he has become our first NFBC member to win three main event league titles. Shawn led his C.C.'s Desperados to a runaway title in Las Vegas League 3 with 123.5 points and he finished fourth overall in the NFBC. If I'm correct, Shawn now has three Top 5 overall finishes in four seasons, which is an incredible accomplishment (3rd in 2004 and 5th in 2005). He also has now won three league titles in four seasons. Coming into the season, only five NFBC members had won two titles since 2004 and Shawn was the only one of the group to repeat once again. Congrats Shawn as you are definitely one of the best in the NFBC.

Also winning a third title this year was Eddie Gillis, who won the Las Vegas $1,250 AL Auction League title by edging Shawn by 1.5 points. Eddie has now won three $1,250 AL Auction League titles in four seasons (NY in 2004, LV in 2005 and 2006), which again is an incredible accomplishment considering the talent we bring together each year for that one. Believe it or not, three teams had a WHIP of 1.318 in this league and Eddie finished on top by the slimmest of margins in that category. Had he finished 0.001 more in WHIP, he would have finished second overall behind Shawn. This is the second straight year these two have battled for this title right down to the last pitch of the season. Great job Eddie.

David Longood and his sons also won a second Ultimate Auction League title in three years in Las Vegas. Considering the talent we organize each year for that event, that's another worthy accomplishment. Congrats guys.

I'll have more details tomorrow once we start going through the final standings, but these stand out today. Congrats to everyone who competed until the end for a league title.
