Okay, here's an update for all the folks waiting for over $840,000 in prize money this month. Checks are set to be mailed on Monday, Oct. 22nd from our Cincinnati offices, so look for F+W Publications envelopes later that week. With the extra regular-season game and then 83 leagues to process with W-9s for everyone, it took us all of last week to get the paperwork done here in Iola. We then had to work with our accounting office in Cincinnati and it was obvious that we wouldn't be able to process all of the checks by this Friday as expected.
So the plan is for the checks to be processed next Friday and then mailed out on Oct. 22nd. Sorry for the slight delay, but corporately this works best for our Cincinnati office. Again, look for the envelopes stamped from Cincinnati.
I'll make a separate post on this, but here's a quick heads up for all league champs: We want to feature our 2007 NFBC league champs in our issues of Fantasy Sports Magazine and want a head-shot of the owners sent to us by early December. Send images to Tom Kessenich at [email protected] and we'll give you the 15 minutes of fame you deserve. Terry Haney will grace the cover, but you can be featured inside.
Tom Kessenich will also be contacting our main event league champs over the next two months to get a writeup on your championship seasons. We'll post them here and with any lucky they'll find a spot in an NFBC magazine if we do one. Should be fun.
Congrats to all our winners in 2007 as we are paying winners from 83 leagues that total over $840,000. Wow, what a year. And don't forget to sign up for 2008 as you can get on the list now and not pay until Feb. 15, 2008. See ya again on Draft Day.

greg is it necessary to fill out a W9 for a $150 prize? I thought a 1099 only needed to be issued for an amount over $600

Yes, winnings are taxable only for over $600, but since we offer many contests and pay writers, it's possible for someone to win less than $600 in our baseball contest and still accumulate over $600 by year's end. So we're just asking everyone to send in a W-9 and then we'll have everything on file. You just need to do that once and we'll keep the W-9's on file going forward.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
