How about we each get in a $ 250 satelite next year(it doesen't have to be the same one). If I win it I don't want to reap all the rewards, it was your draft and my team, a 50-50 split seems more right by me. Deal? i was thinking about giving it away as a prize for someone, but geez, how do i pass this up? dan - you got yourself a deal! the team is yours now. i'll let greg/tom know to map it to your STAT page.

btw, if i win my league this year, i'll be in vegas next year, 100% guaranteed.
I'll hold you to that.
Hey Danny!

Would you ever consider using Marks approach to gaining a perceived advantage by drafting in CHI or FLA to avoid the likes of Shawn and Eddie and the many other NY and Vegas studs???

I wonder if Shawn ever considered that as a smart move to possibly gain a super slight advantage (if there even really is one?)?

If just ONE or TWO targeted players slid to you that didn't slide in Vegas...it could be the difference between 5th place overall and Champion.

Who knows.

Where have the Overall Champions come from in NFBC history?

2004 was New York I think

2007 was Chicago

Not sure about 2005 and 2006 but for some reason I am thinking it stands at NY with 2, Vegas with 1, and Chicago with 1 but I am not positive.

Imagine just for the sake of argument that there was bad weather in Florida, and thus many teams transferred to the other three cities. (Or flip flop any city) ...and one of the 4 cities only fielded a single main event league.

...and that wound up being where the main event champion came from that year.

What a bad taste that would leave. Is there an unwritten rule to 3 full leagues or more minimum per city?

Just conversing.
Nah Lancealot, I think the competition is just as tough in Chicago, Orlando, and New York as it is in Las Vegas. Although, you're right, as far as I know nobody from Vegas has won.

I'm really looking forward to Vegas this year. I'm meeting THE Chest Rockwell in person and nobody puts on a better show than Greg.

Shawn and Eddie? They're done. With the Baseball Mafia websight, they have crossed over and become "experts". We all know how "experts" finish! :D :D :D

Dan and Lance-David Didonato won in 2006. Played out of LV9, which if memory serves me right was considered one of the tougher leagues coming out of Vegas that year.

That makes two for NY and one each for LV and Chi.

Betting on which city the winner comes from this year is like betting on which city the next American Idol will come from. But I would bet against Omaha after last night's episode. :D
Lance I have played in both cities and to me Tampa/Orlando is tougher than Vegas hence one of the main reasons I am returning to Vegas in 08.

I think IMO you miss the point by saying a Dan or Shawn are in Vegas as the main way to evaluate. Every city has very, very good players at the top. I think where you could gain an advantage is the bottom 5 in your league. When I find an unprepared, just along for the ride b/c I have a fist full of cash and this sounded fun owner in Orlando I will let you know.

In 2005 in Vegas I drafted against a guy who was half tanked by the first break and drafted an injury riddled team that gave me a huge step up. I still consider that guy a friend today for a variety of reasons.

Dan - does our deal include a 30-day trial to the "advisory board"?

Well I can't guarantee I won't again be half tanked by the first break...but I won't take whatever his name was over Papelbon this year...and I'll have a game plan and one hell of a color coded cheatsheet!!! :D :D :D

As a matter of fact...I can almost guarantee I won't be half tanked until the 2nd break!

It's funny how the mind looks to rationalize failure...or maybe I'm just an eternal optimist...but I believe in both the 2005 and 2007 NFBC I placed higher than the guys who sat directly to my right and left at each draft.

I just need to sit next to Shawn or You or Dan!!! :D

Yup...that's all I need. ;)

By the way, I took Soto at 11 in the first Mag draft. I like the kid. Its hard not to like a call-up that hits during a pennant race.

I'll say the winner comes from Chicago this year...

I'd LOVE to draft in the warm climate of Orlando.. too bad it costs too much to get there.. Megabus to Chicago and back for $16 sounds a bit more reasonable... ;)

My wife is trying to get me to fly into Orlando rather than drive. I could probably get to Chicago just as cheaply and I certainly did enjoy drafting there in 2005. Hmmmm.....

Greg,

Assuming you get 30 guys for the Super draft but no city has 15 total drafters, how do you intend on constructing the leagues?

Thanks
