Who has decided to enter the NFBC and where?

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Feb 12, 2004 10:12 am

The signups keep coming in today. Must be that nice little note John Hunt wrote in this week's USA Today Sports Weekly about the NFBC!! Thanks John, we appreciate the publicity.

Three more signups this afternoon for the NFBC draft in Las Vegas. First of all, let's welcome Mike Williams and Scott Gunaca of FantasyJungle.com. Mike and Scott have a solid online high stakes game they are producing this year, but they're not against winning money in another league. Welcome aboard guys and best of luck with your contest this baseball season.

Also signing up in Las Vegas was North Carolina's Gary Cowham and Tom Connors. I have a feeling they are coming to Las Vegas for the NCAA action, but we're glad they're going to stop in for a little baseball action too. Welcome to the growing NFBC family guys and best of luck in the contest.

Let's also welcome David Longood of Oregon to the Las Vegas NFBC draft. David has also signed up for the Friday morning golf event, so he obviously is a first-class guy. Hit 'em long and straight David and then pick 'em right on Saturday.

We also have our first Wisconsin member in the NFBC, which warms my heart greatly. Welcome to Glenn Florczak, who will be drafting in Chicago. Do us proud fellow Cheesehead!!! Welcome aboard everyone as it's been a fun day.

Okay, now we've cruised past the century mark for those who are keeping score at home. Still room to grow, but you have to like 11 signups in less than two days. The latest signup for the NFBC draft is Mike O'Connor, who resides in Arizona during the winter and makes his way back to the Wisconsin area for the summer. Damn, I'm jealous!! Welcome aboard Mike as it's great to have you as part of the NFBC family and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize.

Tom and I welcome the challenge of the NCOFB. We did WCOFB last year (PezSox). We held off on the WCOFB and finally threw our hat into the ring with NCFB after much discussion and lack of activity elsewhere. (Hey 2 inaugural leagues in 2 years...hope this ends after this one) Let the games begin....and Vegas in March with 3 or 4 NC teams in the NCAA is a great way to kick off the baseball season.

Two more entries while I was getting my four hours of beauty sleep last night. Let's welcome Heath Shaffer of RotoChamps.com and his partner Andrew Orozco to the NFBC draft in Las Vegas. Welcome aboard guys and best of luck with the site and in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize.

Michael Fishman of New York City will also compete in the NFBC draft, claiming home field advantage at the Javits Center. Welcome to the growing NFBC family Michael and best of luck in the contest.

The celebrities are coming out to play now as Donn Johnson of Atlanta has signed up for the NFBC draft in Las Vegas. Okay, so I don't think it's the Miami Vice guy, but after getting Meat Loaf to attend, anything is possible. Welcome to the growing NFBC family Donn, along with partner Robert Berlin, and best of luck in the chase for the $100,000 grand prize.

We're in the midst of filling our fourth league in Vegas with space for seven. Keep 'em coming and don't delay if you want to play (literally) in Vegas during March Madness.

I really like the interest we're getting for New York and I'll be surprised if we don't fill that one up when all is said and done. Lots of e-mail questions and calls this week about the Javits Center. That being said, let's welcome our latest NFBC participant to New York, Brom Keifetz of New York City. Brom and his partner (still need that) claim home field advantage in New York. Welcome to the growing NFBC family and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize.

Let's give it up for another new member of the growing NFBC family. The welcome wagon acknowledges Chad Meyer of Indiana, who will compete in the NFBC draft in Chicago. Welcome aboard Chad and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize.

I didn't think it was possible for anyone north of me to enter the NFBC, but I've been proven wrong again. Let's give a hearty Canadian air blast welcome to Scott Stauffer of Duluth, Minnesota, who is leaving the cold in March to join us in Las Vegas. Welcome aboard Scott and please leave Duluth four days early, just in case you're snowed in. We'll keep a spot warm for you at the Rio. :D

Even though it's Sunday, the signups keep coming in. The Illinois tag team of Charles Gallagher and Peggy Gallagher will join us for the Las Vegas NFBC draft, gladly leaving the cold of March and flying right over Chicago and on to the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Welcome aboard Charles and Peggy and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize.

We also added another NFBC member to the New York draft as John Hogan and his partner Rafael Toro will battle for a league title and the $100,000 grand prize. Welcome aboard guys and best of luck in New York.

I also want to recognize Dajan Prorokovic, who will be partnering with Scott Renda in our New York NFBC draft. Glad to have another co-manager in the NFBC and best of luck pursuading Scott on every pick.

They're coming to Chicago, too. Our latest entrant is Karl Mische of Minnesota, who has signed up to draft in Chicago for the NFBC. Welcome to the growing NFBC family Karl and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize.

Wow, The three city format seems to be working great Greg.

Now if you can just add Orlando as a fourth city next year you should have the country covered :D

Ken, you keep pushing for Orlando and we'll see what we can do. As I told you earlier, finding an accommodating hotel or convention center that doesn't force us to charge you guys room, board and food is the key. I'm not sure there is such a place in Orlando in the middle of March. But we'll look, once we accomplish three cities with no problems!!

Thanks Greg, for giving me yet ANOTHER reason to go to Vegas. My wife is conviced we should move there as it is. Last year I was there almost a month for the World Series of Poker in April/MAy and that was just one of my visits. If it weren't for my kids I would probably stay out there till April 22nd when the WSOP starts. Detroit is just so cold right now...I NEED a reason to leave.

Seriously, I really think you have a nice set up with the NFBC and Mike and I are looking forward to it. I hope you plan on a cocktail at The CrazyHorse 2. See you soon.

PS- FIll me in on this LEADERBOARD team. Do we have corporate sponsorship in the fantasy arena or is this a group that just decided to pool their talents?

This is a good way to start the work week as Rick Tiegs of Wyoming has taken the plunge and will compete in the NL Auction League in Las Vegas. I think with a little push, Rick will also be signing up for the NFBC draft the next day. Welcome aboard Rick as our first Wyoming participant and best of luck against Meat Loaf and the other NL bidders in the Auction League.

Here's another signup for the Auction Leagues, this time in New York. Eddie Gillis of Rhode Island called me this morning and ENTHUSIASTICALLY signed up for the AL Auction League at the Javits Center. Welcome aboard Eddie and best of luck in the battle for the $7,000 first prize.

Now we're moving on the Auction Leagues. Dale Tobias of Chicago has signed up for the NL Auction League in Las Vegas as we get closer to filling one league. Welcome aboard Dale and best of luck in the battle for the $7,500 first prize. We will likely fill up just one AL Auction League and one NL Auction League in Las Vegas, so don't delay if you want to compete there.

Christopher Hyden of Indiana has also signed up for the NFBC draft in Chicago. Welcome to the expanding NFBC family Chris and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize.

I barely got those typed in and another registration came in online. Let's welcome Doug Jaffe and co-manager John Franchi of New York to the NFBC draft at the Javits Center. Welcome to -- as you can see -- our growing family and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize.
