Dyv Sorry Dyv. Buster called out a managing flaw. Perhaps he shouldn't have beat around the bush as to his motives. But when an owner makes a mistake, he deserves to get called out. It's called taking responsibility for your actions.

Walla chose to spend all of his FA$. It's not like he was forced to. Sorry you lose this arguement.

Thanks Gekko.

Truth be told, though, my ONLY motive was to educate CREATiVESPORTS.com's readers. I found an example and used that example. That's it, no other motive.

I used the team name merely to demonstrate that this really indeed happened. How often do you believe, "unnamed sources..."

No name, no authenticity, no verification, no story.

Oh, and Dyv, if you actually read the column, you will see that (contrary to your assertion above), I didn't use his name, only his generic team name. There is a big difference between calling a man out by name, and using a generic team name in a column read by thousands, only a handful of whom have any clue as to the identity of the owner of the Walla Walla franchise. Authenticity, Veracity, Verification.

Best to check the facts first, then go off the handle.

But when an owner makes a mistake, he deserves to get called out. It's called taking responsibility for your actions. Hilarious, considering the source.

I'm not flying off any handles... you should see me when I get in a rant, lol ;)

I'm just making a point that the fact you're right about Walla's actions doesn't also mean you're right about how you treated him.

Perhaps he over-reacted... perhaps you could have behaved differently. Doesn't matter to me... it's just the logical inconsistencies between 'I was right about X, so now I can do anything and it's okay''

I don't care if you make enemies or friends or treat people nicely or poorly. I just think the measuring stick was how Walla felt about it and you seem to consider that insignificant.

I didn't visit your website - although I'm sure it's beautiful and your article was insightful, etc.

Gekko - calling someone out in a public forum isn't accountability... Walla will be fully accountable for his actions with his own money for the remainder of the season and I never heard him attempt to shirk that responsibility.

One could point out a strategy and the holes in that strategy rather easily. Let's talk about Placido Polanco in the 4th round of an expert's draft or Nomar Garciaparra with the 4th pick overall, etc.... all picks made by experts. John doesn't claim to be an expert - he just wanted to have a good time and instead he's being mocked for making a mistake.

I'm done defending or attacking or whatever I'm doing. I just read this thread from start to finish - and it struck me as unbalanced.

Now, please hold me accountable for my opinion, Gekk - and my team's successes are my brilliance... it's failures are my co-manager's interference ;) (Errr... maybe the other way around...I better be accountable!)

I'm just Dyv being Dyv...

If someone wanted to write an article about an owner taking Polanco in the 4th, more power to him. I thought we had freedom of speech in this country?

I was actually referring to Ron Shandler taking Polanco in the 4th round (or so I heard) of an expert's draft. There's someone you can mock... he's an EXPERT. Walla's just a guy trying to have fun.

I was differentiating the positions each has put themself in ... because the expectations are different. One is a regular guy who got held out for inspection and didn't like it. The other is a guy who holds himself out for inspection - and knowingly makes a bold move. Holding Walla accountable in public seems mean-spirited.

Certainly within anyone's rights to do... just like calling a fat kid fat is totally covered under free speech, etc.

Doesn't make it right - even if the kid is fat.

Shame on both, Walla and Shandler. Is that better?

Gekko talking about taking responsibility for someones actions. I have heard some whopper fish stories but this is the biggest fib I have heard in years! LOL!
