Shawn, I will be in NY. It is my husbands team, but I get as involved as he lets me. I really enjoy this.

lol. I just might have to do that. He doesn't look at these boards, at least I don't think so, but he is just not that good yet I think I may actually be able to do better! At least he lets me get involved. I just love baseball and playing this game. BTW, love your stuff at mafia. You are amazing at this and I found it incredible that you were willing to share your knowledge with the masses. Great stuff, truly.

draft slot or competitors. i think it is true what the smart guys say,,you can lose it in the first three rounds you win it in the middle and late rounds. after the first couple of rounds it doesn't much matter what your draft slot was, what matters is what players you take and who the other guys are taking. IT IS WHO NOT WHEN!

So did you do the reading and now you have influence your feelings on some subjects to him?

By the way, I had a draft today and I had to pull the trigger on a Judy...28th round Nyjer Morgan. He was the best available!!

I did read all your stuff. It is an easy read and specifically geared towards the NFBC so I found it very entertaining. I had my husband read it too and he referred to it as finding a "Golden Ticket" to the Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory. He said "why haven't I figured this out earlier." He, like I, feels that you are a genius. The 28th round is a good place to break your "no Judy" rule, isn't it?
I've read your stuff on mafia too- very good and very helpful. I got N Morgan in rd 29 but I have to admit I also drafted Taveras in Rd 9. (2 Judies! but one is not a starter...well at least I don't think he will be)

BTW- Vegas and NYC are no tougher than Orlando and Chicago. This is coming from someone who will have done both type cities for multiple years. That is the beauty of this contest every place is over the top difficult and you will earn every dime you win. [/QB]
i fail to see how chicago & esp orlando can be as difficult as vegas & nyc. i apologize if i'm mistaken, but aren't there but 2 leagues in fla & 4 in chitown vs 9 in nyc & 10 in vegas. just playing the percentages, there'd have to be MORE experienced players in those cities. i'm not sayin' there aren't astute players in fla & chi, just not nearly as many, and thus not as difficult. besides isn't it known that GG plays in nyc, while childs & the roundtripper play in vegas, along w/ all the other aforementioned vets!

if i lived halfway b/w nyc & orlando, i'm headin' to disney!

Pull an average player from the $5000 Ultimate mixed league draft and put him into a $125 satellite league.

Pull an average $125 satellite league player and stick him in the $5000 Ultimate league.

Do this 100 times, and I guarantee the Ultimate league players win twice as often.

REGARDLESS of what the hell DRAFT SLOT they get RANDOMLY!

Please.

Some folks tend to think "It's not about the entry money"...like the Ultimate is full of rich folks.

Wrong.

The ULTIMATE is full of tried and tested folks that are more often than not...re-investing fantasy baseball winnings in order to up the stakes and payouts for their efforts.

The $125 satellites are mostly folks testing the waters, learning the free agent bidding, and just having fun...or trying to win their way in to the main event.

If you are a proven winner...you generally don't keep playing $125 satellites...you move up...so the proven winners are no longer part of that player pool...do you, or do you not understand that logic?

How bout this for some simple math- more experienced players in Vegas maybe but there are also more leagues to divide them by. I have done both the mix of the leagues are exactly the same.

If you want to ask how easy Orlando is ask the overall champ from New York about his experience down there in 2007? Great player, great guy, but it was not an easy ride for him.

Why am I debating a subject with someone about the level of competition in this contest who has well never ever played in it? My time is more productive trying to figure out which Angel gets traded to the Mets next week after the draft.
I will be interested to see what your opinion of Orlando is next week. Thing I found and think you will too is that Orlando does not have the money to burn three sheets to the wind player like Vegas can. I do think you are at a disadvantage b/c not only have those guys got experience, they also know each other's tendencies. Only 2-3 leagues a year you get to know each other.

Not sure if this means anything but I finished 4th in my Tampa league last year while my buddy finished 3rd in his NY league.

However, I did finish higher than him in the overall standings.

By this logic, had I drafted in NY instead of FL, I would have won my entry fee back. Instead I get bragging rights that cost me $1,300 (THough the competition was worth the entertainment fee).

Comparing Weekly Free Agent dollar assignments per player per league, Tampa was incredibly competitive.

I believe that while there are more "experts" there are also far more casual players in Vegas than in any other location and if you're looking for an edge, it is the casual players that you want in your league.

Just my opinion. Either way .... Let's DRAFT!!!!!!!

i completely agree w/ cindy. who is in your league is MUCH more important than your draft spot. i was in a sat last wk where a guy took kinsler in the 2nd rd. maybe kinsler justifies that during the season, but we all know he coulda got'em in the 4th easily. do you think childs makes that kind of pk? how 'bout gg?

if i found myself in a league w/ childs, thomas, deterra, & didonato i'd think that greg was holding a grudge against me cuz i don't believe brett favre was the greatest qb ever! This is where I disagree. I am not trying to speak for Shawn nor am I qualified to, but I would think that if He loved Kinsler (or any player for that matter) and didn't think he would be there when he picked again he would not care where the ADP was he would draft him.

The fact that guys like Childs have the BALLS to make those type decisions are why they win-IMHO. They think outside the box.
