Sooo. what do you guys think? Albert Pujols said he is going to play the whole season and possibly his whole carrer without a sugery? Do you think his stock is going to go back up?

Also...there has been a ton of discussion on Miguel Cabrera being a top 4 pick?

Did you know that no Tiger has hit 30 or more homeruns since the Tigers started playing at Comerica Park?

The stadium that Miggy had been playing in is even worse on RH power. Comerica Park may be an upgrade for him.
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Probably for me is there are 13 other guys I want, if Pujols is on the board at my pick, that means most likely the other 13 guys will be gone at my pick.

If he is going to be playing all season...LIKE HE SAYS. Shouldn't I take him with the 3rd pick?

I have the 3rd, 8th, 9th, and 15 picks in some leagues coming up. If more news comes out, and its believable! Then I am taking him at 3. His stats are ridiculous!

I would not take him at 1 or 2 though...I don't know, its just such a tough decision.

You know....if you dont take him...you have to watch ESPN every day... and he will be the highlights if he plays all year.

FAT ALBERT...SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND, ALBERT WITH ANOTHER, LOOKS LIKE THAT ELBOW ISNT BOTHERING HIM, ANOTHER MONSTER YEAR FOR ALBERT.

ESPN will be hard to watch...thats all I am saying..

good luck guys

I think it's positive that Pujols says he thinks he can play with all year, and maybe his whole career without surgery but I'm not so sure his doctors are confident.

Just read this in an article:

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

La Russa worries that Pujols could blow out the elbow with one off-balance swing.

"I only know what the doctors say," La Russa said. "He's played seasons where he didn't take that swing. He has an issue in there and if something crazy happens, it may pop up. Go after a pitch and all of a sudden something funny happens, your foot slips, whatever."

"I've said before, if there's anybody in this game that plays 100 percent healthy the whole year, he's lying. My mind tells me that I'm 100 percent but my body doesn't, and that's the way it is."

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

So, I guess it comes down to, do you believe Pujols' mind or his body. Mind says take me with late 1st round pick, body says pass and take somebody with less risk.

When I hear La Russa say he's worried he could blow out his elbow with "one off-balance swing", that worries me, especially when he's in direct contact with his doctors.

Of course the other side of the coin is, if he's healthy, he could be the best offensive player in the game this year. As Crazy as I am, I still say it's best to pass on him.

I think risk/reward picks should be saved for much later in the draft. Taking a risk/reward pick in the 1st round seems a little outlandish.

I think one DL stint in 2008 over his elbow and you just made a mistake drafting him.

What are the Vegas odds on that?

I like that reply, makes alot of sense! One dl stint and it could really cost you..didnt think of it that way...thank you

Consider these things on draft day before uttering your first round pick:

1) In his 7 year MLB career, he has NEVER scored fewer than 99 runs, hit fewer than 32 hr, knocked in fewer than 103 rbi’s, or hit less than .314!! WOW!!! That is the equivalent of Miggy Cabrera's BEST season.

2) If Poddles has been playing with this injury for a while now, that means he's taken thousands of swings and made thousands of throws all without blowing his elbow out. why would it all of a sudden happen now?

Watching Miguel for four years in Miami I can assure you it does not matter what ballpark he hits in because the homers travel such a distance and so far beyond any fence it just won't matter.

The biggest factor might be playing a lot of games in colder weather.

I have gone with him three times now with the seventh pick and Pujols and Utley were available, tough calls all, but play out the rbis and rs and lesser pitchers in the al central where he plays nineteen games with the white sox and twins indians as compared to facing hurlers for the braves and mets, and i say he has an awesome season, like magglio last year

good thing you didn't pass on him in the mag draft huh gordo! bottom line- he plays all year he is a value pick anywhere but pick 1. if he misses 25+ he wasn't a value pick anywhere he is gonna be taken.

I do not think I have ever seen Pujols take an off balance swing.

He is out to make a statement this year and prove he can play through it. He dosent want to be made to look like a fool for playing. People will say "you should of had the surgery and not been a tough guy" He will play until the arm falls off.

Draft him early. 4 HR so far in spring!!!!!

23? thats crazy? Or am I crazy? I would have taken him wayyy before 23.

I just dont want to make a bad decision...if he says he is going to play all year,...its posted on every website, then why is he still going so late?

This is my 1st year playing, so I am going to take as much advice as possible.

23 is too late - i was 2 and 29 so i had no chance. my first year also.

dont really understand some of the injury talk - people on the boards say Hanley Ramirez in an injury risk - still trying to understand that. He had surgery to fix his shoulder and is hitting close to 370 in the spring.

This is my 1st year playing, so I am going to take as much advice as possible. The thing is, it's a LONG season and you are plucking down $1300 not to mention travel, prep costs and time. Nobody really wants to take a chance at such a high level pick. To me, 1st round is not all that different from second round. It's a top pick either way. Gamblers (I like to gamble too) may see value in taking him after the top 12 offensive "no brainers" are gone. Sitting at pick 13 is where it starts to get interesting.

Lets see if he lasts till round 3 in any draft.

OK - So I'm not as good as I thought I was; but at least I am consistent.
