Miguel Cabrera_Scratched!!!!
DETROIT -- Miguel Cabrera was scratched from the Tigers lineup for Thursday afternoon's game against the Kansas City Royals with soreness in his left quadriceps.
Cabrera had been dealing with a tight quadriceps early in Spring Training. It was not immediately known if the injuries are related or if this is new.
Would anyone be surprised with a DL trip?
On another note, I read that Cabrera has a somewhat fragile psyche (hard to believe for a susperstar), which may have been a prominant role in him hitting 5th in the lineup and not third or fourth. His slow start doesn't surprise me. I wonder if his whole year will be a disappointment to everyone. It's certainly shaping up that way.

I bet it will really slow down his running game!

Chance favors the prepared mind.

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Yeah I sure hope not as the last thing I need right now is Cabrera on the DL.

sorry...
Tigers manager Jim Leyland said that Cabrera could be available as a pinch-hitter, but wasn't sure when he would be able to play the field again.
"He could hit, but he can't run , so I don't want to use him," Leyland said before the game with Kansas City. "He had some trouble with it over the winter and it was sore during the spring, but I don't know if he hurt it during the rundown yesterday or what."

Edwards King , Greinke is in for a big year.
I have him in the Childs classic, the 1000 dollar league , and i paid 15 for him in the AL Auction [1300] in Vegas.I missed him in the main but you cant hit em all. good luck to all Greinke owners.

I have a lot vested in Greinke too. After Bannister shutout the Tigers, I thought what are the chances that the Tigers bats are shutout 2 days in a row?? Well, he didn't get the shutout but a solid outing nonetheless!!

From the tone one the boards, I was the only guy in the NFBC who did not "know" about or "target" Cueto!
I went for guys like Grienke.
In general, I do not target pitchers not named Harang or Arroyo who pitch in that band box who are rookies on teams that haven't won much. That is just me. Greinke, however, had a few MLB starts under his belt in a pitchers park on a team that I thought was, while not a powerhouse by any means, improving playing in a division that seemed to be getting weaker (accepting my friends in DET, of course). Cueto may be the next Prior and Wood (emphasis on early career arms playing for Dusty Baker) and really pay dividends to the ones who payed the risk. And sincere congratulations to each and every one. Or Dusty will leave him out there for the extra inning until the opposition sees him for the fourth or fifth time around (or his arm falls off). As we always say, it is a marathon, not a sprint.
I will stick with guys like Grienke. I think the averages are better. Time will tell.
Good luck, Eddie! I can't wait until we get 2008 pictures on the main page. I am tired of seeing your mug up there...again and again...

[/QUOTE]Richard, I was following the game via the Net while I was "working" and wondered if they would bring him out for the 7th since he already had 80+ pitches. Since they were going into the tail end of the DET line-up I guess they felt it would not do too much damage. And they were right except for the solo tater given up to Inge.
Greinke is going to have his bad days, but I am looking forward to using him for at least 30 starts this year.
The Royals, I think, were very lucky to get DET early like this. When the cream rises, DET will be a monster!
Good luck!
