Man, he's getting his a$$ handed to him and he's not even up to 15 strikeouts yet. That la whatever guy must be bewildered.

Back to AAA; especially when you can't get a 45 y/o pitcher out; lucky with the 3 unearned runs

This reminds me of Billingsley's debut in '06. Clearly has a dominating fastball, and his secondary pitches are good enough to be useful. But as I write this he's only thrown first-pitch strikes to 11 of the first 22 hitters he's faced, and he seemed to get rattled in the 3rd. I think he'll be fine and put up good numbers, but will they be good enough to keep the rotation spot? Glad it didn't cost me ~$550 to find out, although I did bid $250 or so...

That Wladimir guy just hit a slam, does that make him a better value this week?

certain "personalities" on this board HAD to get scherzer. for egos that need a fix of posting daily, this was like mainlining. like a dot-com era cigar, they had to have so they could loudly tell the whole party how great they, er, the cigar, er the pitcher is, as they puffed. now they're coughing on the fumes of their own hype.
Do good.

[/QUOTE]Yeah, it did end in a whimper. Well you're not alone in your disappointment. I think he'd go for $100-150 after tonight's performance.

(I had the early scene from "Boiler Room" running in my head!)

Cut and paste and save this thread...just in case he turns out to be the next star SP.

At the very least this goes down as one of the most hyped threads in NFBC history!

Max works with an electric fastball, which rates out as a ++ pitch. Secondary stuff needs work and is below major league average. This is based upon tonight, a 1/2008 spring training outing that I've seen.

Comparble player at the begining of his career would be Jake Peavy. Most likely will be put into a Zumaya role.

Over all he has a beautiful arm that still needs work, but upside of Peavy in 2 to 3 years.

Cueto is a much better starter at this point in his career. He just has a better repirtior at this point.

Do you mean he can be AS GOOD as Peavy? His STYLE is not much like Peavy at all. No movement or command of his pitches- just gas.

He offers an electric fasball to work off of. If other pitches devlope, he has the cieling of Jake Peavy. He has a chance at that type of upside.

Wow after the fact the Mad Max player haters are everywhere. He needs to get that first pitcher over, his slider wasnt bad either he made Burrell look real bad on a slider that was a ball that he swung at.Hey he will get another start this weekend , so part two will be interesting.
