Has FAAB made your Team?

Post by mdz129 » Thu Jul 10, 2008 5:07 am

FAAB is always a hit or miss--Here are my FAAB pickups--which I think has made my team a top 75 overall team.

week 0 Lohse $32

Danks $32

week 1 Wellemeyer $22

week 2 Cliff Lee $76 $66 second

J Werth $52 $38 second

week 8 J Hairston $118

week 10 Morrow $11

week 11 Mcclung $11

Okay my Rich Hill, Chris Young SD RD 6,7 were terrible picks as was Joe Borowski in rd 11--so I needed the help.

Any other stories?

We've needed the help since we've had our top 2 draft picks- Ortiz and Soriano on the D.L. and 6 others on the DL this year (although I know everyone gets their share of injuries, I've never owned an unluckier team- dislocated fingers, concussions, torn tendon sheaths, sigh)

good? pickups (trying to remember $ amounts):

De Rosa 28

Ianetta 3

Kobayashi 4

Wheeler 60

R Sweeney 1

Laffey 60

Grudzielanek (doesn't hit for power or speed but a .320 avg)

We've also made mistakes:

dropped:

Alexai Ramirez (after we picked him up through FAAB)

D Bush (mistake?)

feels like there are more but those are the only ones I remember

It certainly has helped. Current members of our team picked up via FAAB:

Cliff Lee

Ryan Dempster

Jerry Hairston Jr.

Randy Winn

Dmitri Young

Greg Smith

Damaso Marte

Andruw Jones

Justin Masterson

Ryan Spilbourghs

Joel Zumaya

Manny Corpas

Seeing as 8 of these guys are currently in our lineup and 1 other guy has been in there I think it is safe to say it has been a big if not huge part of our season. With wasted picks like Borowski, Escobar, Owens, Betancourt, D. Cabrera, Uribe, Nomar you need to work the FAAB and I think we have done pretty darn good with it. Lee, Dempster, Smith and Winn were all early season pickups.

Since my picks 4 6 an 7 Hafner Smoltz C Young have done so well FAAB pluses have been:

Nolasco 9

Lohse 6

Davis AZ 7

Maholm 6

Morrow 5

Bowker 6

Ianetta 1

Would prefer not to mention the waste picks like Alou needing HRs and Rbis and thinking he would be back after all star break at the latest wasted 66 on him last week. Wish Hafner would have surgery so I can pick up Anyone who starts LOL

Marty I definitely missed out on Nolasco. I never thought he'd be pitching this well. Win some, lose some...maybe 1 of these years the tide will shift strongly to the win side and I'll make a run at the 100k. Anyways, great pickup with Nolasco.
