Jared Eagle Is Week 20 Winner
Way to go Jared! Looking good!
Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Jared Eagle Is Week 20 Winner
Jared Eagle’s Rubberneck team in New York League 9 has been getting the hitting all season. What Jared has been waiting for is a little pitching to match.
He finally got it last week.
Some strong pitching and equally strong hitting helped Eagle’s team top the NFBC field last week with 3,417.5 points.
Big weeks from Dustin Pedroia (.414, 10 runs), Kevin Youkilis (.408-3-9), Brad Hawpe (.417-3-7) and Chris Snyder (.294-2-7) led the way offensively. Dan Haren, Shaun Marcum and John Danks combined for four wins and 30 strikeouts while Chris Perez had three saves to lead the pitching staff.
“My hitting has been great all year; it's been just a matter of my pitching catching up with them,” Jared said. “Pedroia, Hawpe, Youkilis, Ludwick and Hawpe all had big weeks, and my pitching really carried me this week with seven wins and five saves thanks to Danks, Haren, Marcum and Chris Perez. It pretty much was as good a week as one could hope for.”
That type of balance is precisely what Eagle hoped to achieve in his draft back in March.
“Our draft day strategy coming in was to try and be as balanced as possible,” he said. “I pretty much planned our first five picks with the first four being hitting and the fifth a big pitcher.
“We picked fifth and went Holliday, Ordonez, Abreu, Cano and Haren. We wanted to get a strong start in Batting Average which would then help us fill in as we went along. The rest of the first 10 didn't go as well as we would have hoped.
“However, the key I think to any good team is to use every pick to its fullest, you never know when you can draft a that will have a big year. It could happen with any of your 30 picks. Doumit, Pedroia, Marcum, Danks, Huff and Theriot were all drafted after Round 12 and have all had big years for us. Also free agents Ludwick, Cantu and now Carlos Perez have really made a difference for us.”
