Tight Race?

Post by Hard Heads » Mon Aug 25, 2008 3:03 am

As the season winds down, anyone else dealing with a ridiculously tight race like we have in Las Vegas league 10? 4.5 points seperate the top 5 teams! From 1 ab to the next the standings are still moving. From one of the 5 to the rest, best of luck in this dog fight! Now time to get back to the football boards to see what pick we get in the Million Dollar double header...

LAS VEGAS 4

How about half a point is the difference between first and third place. Totally nerve wracking!

4th and 5th place are 7 points out.

Craziness!!!

Good luck down the stretch!!! You heading to Vegas for Football??? I am on may on Wednesday!!!

Up to the minute we have 112, 111.5, 110.5, 110 and 108.5! Doesn't get much tighter then that! We trail a guy by 6 saves and benched two closers to gain a much needed point in k's and possibly a second one and Dallas Braden rewards with a solid 0 k's in 7ip! Jensen Lewis and Brad Ziegler both got saves, so we traded 2 saves for zero k's, ugh....

Can't say I enjoyed the 2 point swing as much as you did but I suspect if this league continues along it's current path that we all better stock up on some Dramamine. "Swing your partner dos-a-dos".

P.S. By the way Mike, isn't this your first year in the NFBC? If so this is one hell of a league to get your feet wet in and makes your performance to date that much more impressive.

This is our first tango in the NFBC and it was a doozy to be involved in. We came in confident as I have won 4 of the past 5 local leagues I was in, but this pales in comparison(as I am sure you know) to any of those leagues. The setup with FAAB and no trading makes every move crucial and while we have made mistakes, just look at Cust's stats while on our bench and we have made some good ones, Lee and Dempster, it has been an awesome year and I look forward to the next 10 years in the NFBC. For those following we now are at 112, 110.5, 100.5, 100.5 and 109.5, just crazy!!!

I agree this league is very tight at the top. I'm running The Flaming Rooster's. This is my second year playing so I don't have much experience but a few days ago I was 30th overall and 4th in our league. That was insane to me.

I can't say I'm looking forward to the end of the season, too much cursing out Vlad Bag's for hitting into DP's with the bases juiced and dreaming of complete game shutouts by J. Bergman only to wake up and remember he blows.

I think it will come down to the wire. There are gonna be some really good teams that are gonna finish out of the money. Oh well, I guess whatever happens; happens.

"Insane you say", Mr Hambone? Try this one on for size. The Sunday before last, my team had two pretty decent pitching performances. I won two games and had double digit K's. Offensively, I scored 9 runs, drove in 11, hit 3 home runs, stole two bases and my team batting average for the day was .511. I know team performance as it relates to standings are in fact relative. Still it was a bit shocking to lose a half point in the standings after a day like that. Fasten your seatbelt my friend.

Yup, So wrong. By the way Kyle, send my regards over to your buddy Chris (Folder of Death) Dalzell. I hope I'm not confusing the connection but somewhere buried in my memory is the fact that your friends? I've noticed that while he's having a very nice year he's also in a tight battle for first. My best........................

Yeah I am friends with Chris (Folder of Death). I'll pass along your message for ya. We both threw Guthrie last night. Ugh! At least we'll have something to complain about the next time we talk.

Not to be outdone, I had Jorge-if you can't pitch him against Washington you can't pitch him at all-Campillo, pitching last night  For the last time. I had a Mylanta moment also.

P.S. I have some personal space issues. Could you stop following me so closely? ;)

It's interesting to note that with five days left in the MLB regular season, 9 of our 26 NFBC main event leagues are decided by two points or less. We have one league that is tied, a couple where 1/2 point decides first and second place, and a handful of others where the difference is 1, 1/5 or 2 points. Awesome races.

It's interesting to note that we have a couple of Winner-Take-All Satellite Leagues that are also tied as of today. Let's get a winner in those!! :D Good luck all and congrats to all of this year's winning owners.
