Who has decided to enter the NFBC and where?

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Tue Mar 09, 2004 5:53 am

Okay, more guys are willing to act like Ernie Banks within the NFBC as they are finding out it's a good day to play two!! Terry Haney, who had already signed up for the NFBC draft in Las Vegas, is willing to take the plunge in the NL Auction League as well. Terry is now our 11th team in the NL Auction League, leaving us with two open spots there. Let's keep the signups coming and fill that baby up. Good luck Terry in the hunt for the $7,500 first prize and the $100,000 grand prize in the NFBC and thanks for the e-mail and call today.

Dohn Terrell, who has already signed up for the AL Auction League in Las Vegas, is now willing to take the dive in the main event on Saturday. Dohn is flying from New Jersey to Las Vegas and will now compete for the $100,000 grand prize in the NFBC as well as the $7,000 first place prize in the AL Auction League. Best of luck Dohn in both contests and thanks for supporting the NFBC.

By the way, we have three spots open in the Las Vegas AL Auction League and two spots open in the New York AL Auction League. First come, first served. Happy bidding everyone.

Let's welcome another member to the NFBC family in New York as Leonard Ringle has decided to join us for the main event on Saturday at the Javits Center. Leonard was recruited by fellow NFBC member Ari Benjamin, which means that Ari either knows that Leonard is easy meat for this competition or he's a good friend who he wants to share this experience with. You make the call. Welcome aboard Leonard and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize.

Thanks for the warm welcome Greg!

I'm trying to convince my wife to let me join the NFBC in addition to the A.L. League Auction but she almost smothered me in my sleep for that alone. I know I wont make it to Vegas on 2 broken legs so I have to tread carefully!

BTW anyone who wants to go drinking with my bro and co-manager Phil will find out how we got our team name (WRE).

WRE, I'm not married, but maybe I can offer some assistance. Why don't you just say, "Listen woman, I'm the man. I make the money and the decisions. Tonight, you will service me. Tomorrow, I'm taking $1250 and entering the NFBC and that's the way it is! If you don't like it, then don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out." Simple and effective. No need to thank me!

After following that exquisite advice on how to get your wife to agree in your participation, you can then post for information on the availability of a good divorce lawyer. This board provides a great forum for a myriad of topics.

This is spoken by a guy with 35 years of marriage under his belt.

Good news to report on the AL Auction League in Las Vegas. Ken Norred of Alabama, who is already in the NFBC draft, has decided to play two and compete in the AL Auction League. We now have 10 AL Auction League members in Las Vegas and 11 NL Auction League members, leaving two spots open in each league. Welcome aboard Kenneth and best of luck in the hunt for the $7,000 first place prize. It's obviously a good day to play two!!!

Let's also add another overnight signup to the NFBC as Chicago's own Frank Perez and Jeff Husserl are teaming up at the Rosemont Convention Center to compete for the $100,000 grand prize. Welcome to the growing NFBC family guys and best of luck in the competition.

WRE, I've been married for 8 years and I can tell you exactly what worked for me. I was signed up to do the NFBC in Chicago as well as share a team in the NL Auction in Chicago. Unfortunately, my fellow Cub fans let us down and the NL Auction was cancelled. So, here I was with the NFBC draft coming up but no NL Auction.

So, I thought of what exactly has my wife been wanting? You got it, new siding for the house. So I said to her, you let me fly to Vegas for the NL Auction and fly back in time for the Saturday draft in Chicago and the new siding will be done by this spring! Heck, I new we were going to need new siding in the next year or 2 anyhow and this way, I get to go to Vegas for exactly 12 hours and do an auction league.

I realized early in my marriage that I need to save those "bartering chips" (the siding for the NL Auction draft). ;) ;) :D ;) ;)

We're happy to report that the AL Auction League in New York now has just one more opening as Bob Sherman of Vermont became our 11th owner earlier today. Welcome to the growing NFBC family, Bob, and best of luck on Friday, March 19th at the Javits Center as you battle the others for the $7,000 first place prize.

Let's also give it up for Nathan Noy of Chicago, who has joined the NFBC draft at the Rosemont Convention Center in Chicago. Nathan has just moved to Chicago, so his roots aren't too deep, but he's excited to be joining the NFBC. Welcome to the growing NFBC family, Nathan, and best of luck in the hunt for the $5,000 league prize and the $100,000 grand prize.

Andy Shane of New York has decided to play two and will enter the AL Auction League in New York, thus becoming our 12th and final team. We're glad to fill this one up, so get ready for bidding on Friday, March 19th. Welcome to the AL Auction, Andy, who found a way to get out of work that afternoon, and best of luck in the battle for the $7,000 first place prize.

Good luck everyone. If anyone still has interest in this AL Auction League and unfortunately got shut out, call me at 715-445-4612, ext. 284. Thanks.

We would love to have you in the NFBC as well Worst Russian. Both events are going to be fun and if it makes you feel any better, my wife will be as happy as your wife will be mad that you chose to do both events!! Actually my boss will be happier than my wife, but at this point I feel I'm more married to my job and my boss than I am to my wife. Either way, one of them will be happy. ;) ;)

Okay, now is no time to give up on the quest for 12-14 NFBC leagues, so let's keep the late signups coming in and we'll fill them up. We had three NFBC signups this evening and DEMAND more from the paying public!!!

First of all, let's welcome Scott Lambie and Kirk Vanden Heuvel of Appleton, Wis., who have joined the festivities in Las Vegas. Kirk must be from Kaukauna with a last name like that. Welcome to the NFBC guys (hey, don't you know that Chicago is closer, or was it this NCAA thing they got going on in Vegas with the sportsbooks?) and best of luck in the hunt for the $5,000 league prize and the $100,000 grand prize. See you in Vegas where we'll have a PBR or an MGD together.

The NFBC also welcomes Adam Hollander and Tom Shelby of California to our Las Vegas NFBC draft. Glad you guys could drive over for the wild weekend. Best of luck in the hunt for the $5,000 league prize and the $100,000 grand prize.

And after playing phone tag with Sal all day long, my buddy from Staten Island finally said the hell with me and signed up online tonight for the NFBC draft in New York. Glad you stopped waiting for me, Sal, and best of luck in the hunt for the $5,000 league prize and $100,000 grand prize. Thanks to all of the late signups as you will be rewarded with Pete Rose autographed baseballs.

It's our pleasure to welcome John Piontek of Florida to the NFBC draft in Las Vegas. John won the Fantasy Jungle's high stakes football contest last year and is geared up to compete for the $100,000 grand prize in our baseball event. He's heading to Las Vegas for a couple of bachelor parties next week, but I think he's just on the sideline for those, not the main event. Anyway, best of luck John in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize.

Okay, now we're cruising. Three signups during our Thursday afternoon chat. See, it helps to stay positive. Our latest signups include Kevin Cummings of New York, who will compete in the NFBC draft at the Javits Center in New York. Welcome aboard Kevin and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize.

We also recruited a pair of Cheeseheads (I say that with pride, you know) to the NFBC draft in Chicago. Milwaukee's own Vern Neumann and Jacob Wallendal are teaming up to compete in the Windy City's NFBC draft. Best of luck guys in the battle for the $5,000 league prize and the $100,000 grand prize.

Vern is my guiding light! I will only be at the draft until "The Dr." is in! I will then sit outside on the Nextel and look through the windows missing the fear/anger you feel when the guy infront of you takes your "lock-n-load" player right away from you.

GOD I love the DRAFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not yet, but I've heard it's coming. Keep 'em coming as we're getting towards a magical number. As you can see, the prize structure remains the same and I remain at work, on the phones. Where's that entry from Worst Russian Ever? I'm not going home until we get four more tonight as that would make the white collars VERY happy tomorrow.

Okay, so I'm working late tonight and doing an online draft with the folks at CBS SportsLine.com as I had the third pick in a 14-team mixed league. So I take Alfonso Soriano after A-Rod and Vlad (Pujols was tempting, but I went for the position scarcity theory), and was lucky enough to get Miguel Tejada coming back at No. 26. Sweet! Then Scott Rolen falls to the third round and Derrek Lee lands in my lap in the fourth round. Nice infield so far, huh?

Then I see one online registration for the NFBC and then another and then a phone call for another. Is this my lucky night or what? All of a sudden that 12th league is looking good and so is the NFBC prize structure. But it's back to the draft for now, so hang tight on the names.

Okay, there's a break in the action. I'm glad to welcome two more registrants to the NFBC draft in Las Vegas as we're working on our sixth league there. Let's give it up for another Leaderboard Sports member as Chris Deffendall of Florida will be joining us for the main event at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas. You're a welcome sight Chris and I can't even see you. Welcome to the proud NFBC family and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize.

Now back to the draft. I'll announce the other guy soon.

Our second team is a result of some great recruiting by Ken Magner, the second person who signed up for the NFBC way back in December. Great job Ken and thanks for all the support. The tag team of Robert Mauri and Rich Verost will compete in the NFBC's main event in Las Vegas. Welcome to the growing NFBC family guys and best of luck in the hunt for the $5,000 league prize and the $100,000 grand prize.

A Pete Rose autographed baseball is on its way to Robert and Chris, our last two signups. Thanks guys and I'll see you in Las Vegas.
