Josh Fields position clarification ?

b) Players who played less than 20 games total in the majors last year will be eligible at the position they played the most games at, not including DH or pinch-hitting.

Why would he be listed as UTIL when he played 14 games in '08 with 12 games at 3b ?

If Pablo Sandoval is 1B eligible then why is Fields not 3B eligible? It was "assumed" Sandoval was going to be the starting 1B for the Giants so an executive decision was made to allow him 1B eligibility, so why would Fields, projected to be the starting 3B for the Chisox not get the same label?

if i'm wrong tell me, didn't fields play 12 games at 3rd, his most at any position, and sandoval 17 at 1st, his most at any position?

The distinction between the two is that Sandoval played 20+ games in the majors. There is a position ruling for players under 20 games and players over 20 games. Sandoval would have qualified as Util but Greg made a good call and slapped a position on him.

The kicker to it all is that the guy's name is FIELDS too !
