15th pick, I knew it would be tough... but I cracked under the pressure.
You know that moment where you make a decision and it feels good... then you find a loophole?
I did that.
I concluded having Arod as my starting 3b would be insanity... I'd need to pick up a player in the 25th round (any earlier and I lose something else important) or so to pair with Arod and combined see what their stats looked like. There's really very little left in the 3b world at that point, so I had determined - forget Arod.
Then on draft day the first 14 picks come rolling out - not one slipup, not one 'bad' pick in my mind. The guys in LV7 nailed the 14 I had as the 14 best players (little difference in order, but come on same thing...).
Now it's my pick - I'm scrambling... SP? Bleh, not this year. OF? Plenty of good picks later... then it hit me. (Oh no.....)
If I drafted Arod as a UTIL player (or at least CI) - I could plug in a lot bigger field of players and work my ass off to manage matchups... which players had more games each week or righty/lefty matchups or ballpark factors or... well anything on a week-to-week basis for 4 weeks or 6....
So Dr. Frankenstein was determined to build a top notch overall player from scraps... and I picked Longoria and Arod with my 1.15 and 2.01 picks.
I'm hoping for .299, 105R, 38HR, 112RBI, 12 SB from my creation (Hello Ryan Braun+ !)
I'd appreciate any comments on my squad, I wish I could roll back a few picks...

Draft day came and I lost my mind...
You and I both had #15 picks, and we both followed a similar strategy of waiting on SP.
It appears to me that you will have big pitching problems, in all categories. Depth of SP is a real problem. Price will be in the minors, & A Miller is highly inconsistent. Also, I think Piniella will name Gregg as closer this week and not Marmol, which will hurt the one category you probably thought would be ok.
With that staff you will need great hitting cats, but my quick overview concludes that you look to be short on steals, too.
Good luck. Thanks for posting.

Dr. FrankenDYV,
Put the scalpel down you have done enough carnage. I was pick #9 in your league and my first thought after you picked A-Rod was "That dude is out of his mind ". Khail Greene MI and Eric Chavez #27 as your CI can you say "RED FLAG", over/under is 9 games before he goes on the DL. Your pitching staff would make Gene Wilder "Young Frankenstein gushing with pride". Only a face a mother could love. When your counting on Zambrano as your #1 and Bedard as your #2 followed by David Price in the minors as your #3, I see alot of Bloodshed and transfusions in the future. But what the hell, what do I know, we sucked last year and we could be just as brutal this year. If we don't win our league, I'll be pulling for your squad of recycled corpses. Here is our squad feel free to "SCALPEL AWAY" good luck to you, RiversideSheriffSoCalSmac
OF- Josh Hamilton (1), Nate McClouth (4), Hunter Pence (5), Raul Ibanez (8), Vernon Wells (9).
1B- Justin Morneau (2), 2B- Brandon Phillips (3), 3B- Melvin Mora (14), SS- Mike Aviles (13), MI- Yunel Escobar (16), CI- Ty Wiggington, UTIL- Eman Burris(25), Nyler Morgan(24), Skip Shumacker (26),C- Dioner Navarro (19) & Yadier Molina (22).
Bench- Eman Burris,Nyler Morgan, Ishikawa (28) why not hit two homers yesterday, unchallenged at 1B and Nick Punto(30) Double digit steals every year and dual poss why not at 30.
P- John Lackey (6), Jon Lester (7), Derek Lowe (11), Matt Garza (12), Randy Johnson (15) Great Value here, I hope, Jesse Litsh (18), Chris Volstad (20).
RP- Matt Capps (10), Jose Arredondo (21), Grant Balfour (23) Maddon's Pet hoping to replace Percival after he sneezes and goes on his usual place on the DL, Jensen Lewis (27), Rafael Perez (28) one of these guys will close when Kerry Wood develops arms problems from brushing his teeth.
Good luck Dr. FrankenDYV, sincerely Young Frankenstein's assistant "AbbyNormal" AKA:
