Draft slots 13, 14, and 15

Post by gsjanoff » Mon Mar 23, 2009 2:10 pm

There was a tremendous amount of discussion prior to the draft of how slots 13, 14, and 15 were bad this year. Very few people if any wanted to draft at the back end of the draft. I am included in that group as drafting 14th was my 12th choice in KDS. I'm curious now that the draft has played out if everyone still feels the same way.

I am happy with my team, although I usually am at this time of year.

I'm curious what folks think of this team and if other owners drafting from late slots are happy or still feel poorly about their draft slots.

Here is my team.

C YADIER MOLINA 17

C GERALD LAIRD 22

1B HANK BLALOCK 14

2B HOWIE KENDRICK 11

SS RAFAEL FURCAL 04

3B ANDY LAROCHE 21

CI CHRIS DUNCAN 26

MI TROY TULOWITZKI 05

UT BRETT GARDNER 23

OF JOSH HAMILTON 01

OF CARLOS LEE 02

OF CURTIS GRANDERSON 03

OF ADAM DUNN 06

OF DELMON YOUNG 13

SP YOVANI GALLARDO 07

SP A. J. BURNETT 08

SP MATT CAIN 09

SP SEAN MARSHALL 19

SP SCOTT OLSEN 25

SP CHAN HO PARK 28

RP CHRIS RAY 16

RP FRANK FRANCISCO 12

RP KERRY WOOD 10

R DAVID PRICE 15

R KENDRY MORALES 18

R TROY GLAUS 20

R GARY SHEFFIELD 24

R PEDRO MARTINEZ 27

R JAMES MCDONALD 29

R FRANKLIN MORALES 30

I think I have some injury risk and staying healthy will be a key, but i've always felt anyone can get hurt at any time regardless of their past injury history.

I'd be interested to see other teams that drafted in these slots, other than the ones from my league which I already know about, and hear opinions on those teams as well.

I'm in Las Vegas 6.

I was pick 15,,I think the 3-4 turn was big,,,prime catchers and top tier pitchers were available then.,,,also 1-2 was not that bad actually it was good . You were able to get the best 2 players out of the top 16 picked. manny holliday, beltran, carlos lee, crawford, berkman, soriano, upton and others were all there to choose from.

Very weird that we did not draft one player the same out of the 14th slot. I was dreading the 14th slot, but I had a few players slip to me, so it ended up working out well in my opinion. Only time will tell I guess.

[/QUOTE]I was happy to draft him where I did. I think he will provide a huge boost down the stretch for the teams who drafted him. I hate to keep a reserve spot locked up with him, but that is a risk I was willing to take.
