Yeah, I am surprised that the Auction Leagues for New York have been slow thus far. If there is one area of the country where Rotisserie Baseball seems to have its strongest roots to the $260 variation, it is the East Coast. Last year we filled up one auction league late in the game in New York, so maybe everyone out East is just waiting for the end game to sign up. Or maybe they saw Gordon and Jersey Paul were in and didn't like their odds. :D

I still say we'll get a mixed auction league and two AL Auction Leagues in New York this year. The $650 price shouldn't be the factor. More likely it's getting out of work on a Friday to do it.

[/QUOTE]Tough call. I'd love to play with the big boys, but I'd rather not "tip my hand" for Sunday's Ultimate Auction League.

I may still change my mind.

NEW YORK MIXED AUCTION LEAGUE

Post by Quahogs » Wed Jan 12, 2005 4:02 am

I may be game but I have a couple of questions I want to post here -

1) It begins at 4pm correct ? Do you have a rough idea on the length of bidding for 390 players ? Plus did I read somewhere where the reserve roster may be drafted at a later date ?

2) Is the format different in any way compared to the NFBC main event ?

thanks

I would love to play with JP and GEKKO but their in the 650 minor leagues . Come play againest last years NEW YORK AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPION , AUCTION. Im in both 1250 events, mix and american auction. Also the 5000 ultimate, not worried about tipping my hand.Players at this level dont care who you pick.So get in KING had a blast with you and the other crazies last year. The best part of all of this is the draft, so why not triple your pleasure.

1) maybe 5 hours...depends on the auctioneer

2) not sure. greg would have to chime in or you'd need to consult the rules.

3) mixed auction is the best

4) auction > draft

I would say 5+ hours for the auction part and if we go with the six reserve rounds on the spot it would likely take another hour. I would say 6 hours total is a safe estimate.

Each league can tell me what they want to do as far as the reserve rounds are concerned since these are private leagues with only league prizes. It sure seems like the Las Vegas Leagues have similar competitors and some guys feel pretty strongly about keeping the reserve round total (6) and draft selection the way we had it. I was proposing a change to simplify things and take the "luck factor" out of selecting the order of reserve rounds, but not everyone liked that. The rules for 2005 are the same as they were for 2004, which means six reserve rounds of drafting after the bidding, and I'll keep them that way unless one league convinces me that unanimously their league wants to change this.

I hope this helps. Let's get those East Coasters signed up for the auctions. Competing against Eddie or GG is worth the price of admission alone.

I'm really flexible on this, but I'm thinking a 6 round draft after the auction would be fine.

Im in a league where we bid and fill our 23 active roster but we have to leave minimum $5 left for our 5 reserve spots. We then bid on those. Have to really be on your toes, tough on those flying solo (maintaining lists), players really fly.

be on your toes? if you can manage $ for 23 players, i don't think it's a stretch to manage for 29 or 30 players. have your cheatsheets ready and you'll be fine
