That San Francisco Outfielder

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Tue Feb 10, 2004 10:42 am

In case you didn't already know it, San Francisco's left fielder this year has opted out of the MLB Players Association as he apparently feels it's better to negotiate his own marketing deals with trading card companies, video game companies, apparel, etc. That is certainly his right. But since we are an MLBPA licensed game and he is not part of the union, we cannot list him by name anywhere within the NFBC game. So you will see in all of our Cheat Sheets and dollar values, a top player for the Giants listed as San Francisco outfielder. You can select this SF OFer on Draft Day and you will get those stats within your team pages every day. He will remain nameless, but hopefully productive all year long. Hope this clarifies any confusion going forward.

Hey now - if this un-named mysterious ballplayer gets injured will his replacement generate stats for us in the OF?

(Hey Greg - have you called Barry to see if he'd simply grant us rights to use his name for this event? That would be quite a nice little coup - and get him to throw in some autographed balls for the goodie bag)

Errr... did I say Barry? I meant 'the guy'
