We are 1-2 good hitting days away from first in LABR.

Unbelievable -- have Weeks in 4 leagues. He is the ultimate tease, isn't he. Was finally putting it together this year. You'll hear the whispers at the draft next year, just like I heard them this year in the 14th round ("that could be the steal of the draft -- Weeks, that is"). But it will be even later than the 14th, next year... I'm done with him. Undraftable. I'm sure he's a great guy and all, but at some point (you all know what I mean), a finite group of players become "undraftable". That would be Weeks in my world, and that point was reached TODAY!!!!!!

Sucks. Rickie -- you're already on waivers in my world. !!!!!

A nice reality check early enough in the season to learn from.

I was a bit lax and cocky...with Doumit and Weeks going down, and Ludwick with his one day pain = DL trip...I'm focused and pissed off. Watch Jose Reyes be DL bound tomorrow!

I hope I get most of the seasons many injuries early rather than late.

;) At least he proved he can play when he's healthy.

Too bad he also proved he can't stay healthy.

He's still looking like a better choice than the other low-BA disappointment from last season, AZ's Chris Young. I got sucked into Young's bounceback for my main team, but cut bait after several weeks on my fantasy bench has turned into a spot on the AZ bench.

Sure wish I could have Weeks YTD stats and season-ending injury over 4 weeks of Chris Young's 167 BA. :(

I watched his swings, and how he walked back to the dugout...no real sign of pain.

It seems those (untouched falls) or (unseen injuries) that turn out to be MAJOR or season ending.

The bangs against the wall or against another player or twisting leg on base, or whatever are all minor compared to those freak (steroid use inflicted) injuries.

1. If you had Weeks, a replacement via FAAB this past Sunday was a MUST.

2. Getting injuries early in the season doesn't mean you won't get them later in the season. They are mutually exclusive.

what aree you doing with him on your roster??? manager will not play him in the bigs. sure, he can be rostered if your team doesn't have holes, but once the holes appear you gotta cut bait! holding players too long is a lesson that has to be learned.

What's funny is, we drafted Weeks for speed, but instead are faced with trying to replace his 31 HR pace in the middle infield. Not happening.

Luckily we have Pujols for speed. Who knew?

Luckily we have Pujols for speed. Who knew? I'm soooooooo bummed about this injury. It's been fun watching the Brewers this year as this group has come up through the minors together and were really coming together this year offensively. Weeks was becoming a solid leadoff hitter, although his .340 on-base percentage wasn't any better than past seasons. But if you watched each at-bat, he was MUCH more patient and was really starting to work counts in his favor, which is why he was getting more hits on 2-0 and 3-1 counts. This was going to be his breakout season, no doubt.

Instead we have a tear in his left wrist, leaving him with two different wrist injuries in two years. He's now 27, facing the label as injury prone and facing an uncertain future. As for the Brewers, they need Mat Gamel to step up and find a way to fill in at second base. Craig Counsell isn't the answer and moving Bill Hall to second base and leaving Gamel at third could be scary defensively. A trade is almost needed unless they decide to promote Alcides Escobar and move folks around the infield.

As you stated, several folks drafted Weeks for speed this year, but he was just two-for-four in SB attempts and Ken Macha doesn't seem interested in having his players run much at all. He might not have even gotten 10 SBs this year. But the power and plate patience was nice and I wish I could have seen his progression through 162+ games. Reaching the post-season without Weeks is going to be tough for the Brewers now.

Bummer for all the owners who had Weeks. John and I bid $21 for him in NL LABR and loved the early production, even though we're near the bottom in steals because of his lack of running. But such is life in baseball. Time for Plan B. Good luck all.

Joe Sambito made a very valid point during pre-season.

He was skeptical of the Brewers running game with Macha being the Manager. Macha shares the same philosophy as Billy Beane when it comes to the running game. Good call, Joe!

I screwed up. I don't have the best sources for timely info, so I was kinda hoping he was just being safe...but my gut was telling me he's hurt bad. Always trust the gut.

In my own way...I needed this to happen.

Side note...please tell me you WATCH football, GG!

Votto is scheduled to be examined in Cincinnati this afternoon, Reds spokesman Rob Butcher said today.

Votto twice left games with dizziness last week. He was to have been examined in Cincinnati on Monday, but instead was held back in San Diego after again experiencing dizziness . Before that, Votto had the flu and was out of the starting lineup for several days.

Votto's out this week IMO. Could start pushing next week out the window soon. :(
